No, the food in England is already terrible, nuclear war war would put an end to fresh ingredients and imported food, causing the quality of the already terrible food to deminish, at which point people would refuse to eat leading to the starvation of everyone in England.
Nothing wrong with a big serving of toad in the hole and bubble 'n' squeek.
I don't even understand what thats supposed to mean, but when I read it my stomach churned.

Fallout has already taken place in the UK... At least in Grimsby
You sir, are so right. I might be Australian, but I've been there and never want to return.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with some earlier posters: the whole ambiance of the Fallout series is a parody of 1950s America. Everything from the billboards to the Vault Boy are this ongoing parody (remember, Fallout is a COMEDIC series, despite its dark moments).

Also, remember that the makers really want to focus in on a small area. The first two games were set in California, and moving to DC for FO3 was a -huge- jump for them, and the studios admitted they were really happy to get to come back to more familiar territory for FO:NV, since they got to bring up old groups like the NCR.

You don't have nearly as many guns in public hands over there so I don't think the UK would become as lawless as the US would be.

Oh..OKay. Well Toad in the Hole is a baked product, chefly consisting of a bread batter - much like Yorkshire pudding - with sausages, leeks and other yummy stuff mixed into it.

Bubble 'n' squeek is a vegetable dish, where you get potato mash and cooked vegetables like cabbage, peas carrots and make a pattie out them. You then season and fry them in a pan till golden brown. MMMMMmmmm!

The whole point of Fallout is the 50's Americana. It's their schtick. You can't have a Fallout game that's not in the States, it just won't feel like Fallout.

That said, something with a similar sense of humor and setting would be kinda awesome set in London or Moscow or something.

I think that's where the whole myth of crappy British food comes from; Their wacky culinary names. I want to know which English peasant decided he'd name his dessert Spotted Dick!

I think there would be better potential for Australia: as one of the two existing countries in this world that can survive on its own resources independently I could imagine a game being based about the continuation of (and the struggle to achieve) agriculture.
Also, who doesn't want to see a mutant kangaroo?

No, I've actually eaten British food, not in Britian mind you, and the majority of it was terrible, very greasy, and quite vinegar-y, I've never eaten food that was so vinegar-ed. But than again, the sample size was pretty low and only came from about a dozen sources, its not outside the realm of possibility that the places I ate at just sucked.

According to the wiki Alistair Tenpenny came from England so it is still around.

Hell Europe might be better off than America because it probably wasn't nuked.

At some point there needs to be shouted NPC dialogue for a guard:

"Get out of here, WANKER!"

Hah, parody.

I think it would be done, but a few things of note should be addressed:

Firstly, there would need to be some sort of equivalent of Vault-Tec in the UK. This is perfectly plausible, after all there are nuclear bunkers in Britain. In fact there is one just over an hours drive from where i live.

Fallout's aesthetics may have to be modified for Britain. America's aesthetics are 1950's esque, and i think you could do similar for the UK. In Resistance 1, there were elements of British 1950's-1960's architecture. You could create good gaming environments with rows of terrace houses and towering, crumbling concrete blocks of flats.

But, i think if you went for a more neo-Victorian Steam-Punk theme then that would be better and give the game more style unique to Britain whilst making it stand out from it's American counterpart. Plus, like how Fallout 3 harps back to the American "Golden Age", a Fallout in Britain would do likewise for Britain's "Golden Age" with environments full of Imperial pomp and decadence, steam powered machinery, airships and Victorian fashion. Britain also has the advantage of having more history, so you could have gaming environments set in stately homes and medieval castles. There would also be more medieval weapons such as cannons, longbows, pole arms, swords, axes, armour et cetera would be more plentiful than in America.

I'm not even American and I think it just wouldn't fit with the fallout tone of 1930s-50s Americana.

It could work, but you have to remember Fallout is also a major satire of 50s America and the fundamental ideologies based on that time that can still be found today.

Fallout makes fun of Americans more than it celebrates them. Question is how do you make a satire of 50s England? 60s England is another matter.

Yeah, a satire of Post-War Britain would be a little... dry.

But the Fallout vibe is centred around a future in which the American Dream is realised, and the social image is crafted to fit the previous Golden Era of Americana - the 1950s.
So, In that future, the British Dream (provided Britain had the same economic/social dealings) would probably be the heyday of British Empire - the height of Imperialism/Colonialism.

Maybe, I don't really know, personal opinion. I come from one of those bloody colonies.

No, because there is no vaults in England.
Nope but there are mineshafts in Wales and North England so fallout Britain could work, there may not be the same critters as other fallouts but there could be different ones like mutated lions who's ancestors escaped from safari parks for example.

Right new life goal think up a backstory for fallout Britain...maybe sell it to Bethesda as the idea for their next game.

Fallout could work anywhere, personaly i like the thought of the game's boundries being the sea rather than montain range's or road blocks

plus i would (rather morbidly) love the ideea of seeing another major city as if it was attacked by a nuke....i mean come on, bombed DC was intresting
