So, title says it, kind of. I thought Bethesda/obsidian/I can't be bothered remembering who does it these days should introduce a lot more races into the mix in Fallout 4/5 (depending if FO:NV is 4 or not), For example: Ghouls, that'd be cool, super mutants, robots, argonia- Well, you get the jist of it, I presume (we are a well educated community).

What's your take on this? I mean given the circumstances, yes, in FO3 you should only be a human, but FO:NV? You could've been an intelligent radscorpion! So for FO4, what do you think?

I'm sure there's mods and what not for this in FO3, FO:NV but, should they be included in vanilla?

Here's a list of races I think there should be:
Caucasian
Asian
African American
Hispanic
Ghoul
Super mutant
Robot
Alien

Being able to start as a ghoul or maybe even a super-mutant (which would be hard to write in convincingly, really... you'd be overpowered, yet almost universally shunned) are workable ideas, I think... but if they let you be a robot, they may as well let you start as a deathclaw (remember the robots from Tactics? Craaazy). Fun idea for mods and such, but not a balanced way to start the game off.

Personally, I think they should keep you starting out as a human, but maybe you could get ghoulified, or even dipped in a super-mutant vat, during the course of your adventure.

Ghouls are humanoid. They were once humans after all, so were the Super Mutants. Anyway with that out of the way...wait, wait wait...you can be Asian, African-American and Hispanic in Fallout 3 and New Vegas (or rather, you can give your character those qualities and skin tones. It's really funny to do that in Fallout 3 because the doctors always comment on how much the male PC looks like his father).

Anyway, it wouldn't be feasible to play as an Alien unless it was a much more stealth-based Fallout, removed from the current series. I would love to play as a Ghoul or a Robot though. Basically everyone who isn't a human would have some sort of radiation resistance. Ghouls would be healed by it, as would Super Mutants. Robots would simply be able to resist it. Otherwise it would be fun to see what kind of plot/ missions a Super Mutant, Ghoul or, Robot would have to go through in a Fallout 3/ New Vegas style game.

That would be an awesome idea and Bethesda could easily implement it since they've already done something similar in Morrowind and Oblivion (see Vampires)

Interesting concept... Much like vampires in oblivion? A whole quest to make yourself a super-mutant/ghoul.
Was also thinking of 'cyborg' as a choice.
Perhaps these should be perks? Like four-eyes? And you can only choose one?

I'd be fine with Ghoul as an option, or even ghoulification within the game itself, but I think it would be difficult to mould the same narrative around a robot or super-mutant. I'd rather just keep it simple and leave extra playable races to the modders.

It would be fun to play a first generation Super Mutant(aka the ones that don't talk like eight year olds). My favorite bit would be roaming around human settlements in disguise.

Assuming you're talking about walking around Human settlements in disguise, as a Super Mutant, and not a Ghoul, how the hell would that work!? You're twice the size of fokking CRIS REDFIELD!

You could be wearing full riot gear, a shemagh, and a poncho, all adding artificial size perception, and your size would still look just...off.
And if you're wearing powered armor...let's just say you might need to take apart a third military half-track to get enough metal to construct it. You'd look like someone took apart half a tank to armor you.

Correct me on if you were talking about hiding the fact that you're a Ghoul from the Humans.
Or if you can think of a way to make that (Hiding someone that's, on average, twice the mass of an average Action Man.) work.

Edit: Forgot the on-topic section. I think it would be awesome to have the option of more ages (Child, teenager, oldbie.), with actual pros and cons for each (Children do good with stealth, and speechcraft, suck with assault rifles, but can still use them, but can't even use anything larger than that, even with powered armor, for example.), with the Human race, before they delve into making more races. Maybe also make it so gender isn't aesthetic. Even if it's as simple as making females unable to carry quite as much as men, but move faster, due to weighing less, and widening the dialogue gap between male and female PCs, I'd still be happy. But they could do more than that. They're freaking Bethesda!

If you're going to let us play as a Super Mutant you might as well let us play as the intelligent death claws from Fallout 2 as well. Both would be horribly overpowered.

Reading through all these comments makes me think;

A Perk works really well.
"Deathclaw - Max Str, 0 Chr"
"Supermutant - Max Str, 0 Int"
"Robot - Max Str, Int, everything. Welp, there is no downfall... Let me work on these.

Who gives a shit about charisma when you are a death claw? You don't need to convince people to do stuff for you. They will do it out of fear becuase you are a talking death claw holy shit please don't rip my chest open. And if you meet somebody dumb enough to not help you, you just mount their head as decoration in your house.

I'm really sad that Obsidian didn't do anything with the intelligent death claws in New Vegas. They were one of my favorite things in Fallout 2.

The could make ghoulification a trait, maybe it could be something like rads are healing, but people you meet in the wasteland (wastelanders, scavengers, traders) might have a chance to be hostile toward you on sight.

Well, for robos, you could make it so they get max STR and INT, but less than average CHR and LUK, and shite AGI. They can't move very fast, due to their immense weight, and Humans are rather squeamish around them. And they would only be able to use ranged weapons, period, by having an entire weapons system installed! After that, you'd have to pay a shitload, to a highly-skilled techie, to get new weapons. And even then, you're still limited on choice. Machine gun on one half, grenade launcher on the other. That's it. Two different weapons on one. And if you want a bigger armament, like a sniper rifle, or rocket launcher, that takes up an entire slot. Other arm could have various melee implements like blades, weighted fist, and maybe a morning star, anyone? Or, they could simply pay enough to make their processor feel what it is to cry, and have their other hand/arm installed with a weapons system.

Edit: Alternatively, you could simply have a blade on one arm, for squishies, and a metal ball on the other, for armored targets, and sink all of your money into being armored with an entire tanks' worth of steel.

Only robots and ghouls. Other human races don't really matter and wouldn't have much of a different impact anyway.

I think the human race should be one choice - you can change your skin tonne accordingly.

Yes, but if they make it so that EVERYONE doesn't share the same body, race would actually have a meaning. Especially if different races had different stats, and gender wasn't aesthetic.

Well, most races look nearly identical aside from minor things like eye size and average height. I think the option should just read something like "Human, Ghoul, Robot, etc." and allow the user to customize their character with sliders. If you want to make a tall African American, you can. That sort of thing. As for the stats: I don't see it as needed or making much sense, but that's just me.

I think that being an alien would be a bit far-fetched because there would have to be some kind of subplot explaining how they got there and got integrated into society without which might be a bit weird. Being a Super Mutant would be overpowered but maybe you could do a quest when you're at a high level to turn into a super mutant to gain Strength points but decreased charisma and intelligence.

I like the idea of being a ghoul. It could make your charisma decrease but radiation resistance increase and maybe the feral ghouls would not attack you.

Maybe it could be an option after completing a playthrough with the "wild wasteland" trait?

I don't know if it was deliberate when you made the poll, but in FO:NV, if you have a Luck stat of 7, in REPCONN HQ, you can give the password 'Ice Cream' off the top of your head to a robot security guard. Just thought that was a funny coincidence...
