In games which do you prefer, if you had to pick: Fast-paced, CoD style, or turn-based games that you can take at your own speed? I know you can't compare CoD and Civ, but which do you prefer in terms of pace?

I prefer faster games, but my cousin can sit for hours and hours on Total War...which I just cannot.
This is a difficult question because which category do stealth games come under?
Although they are not neccasarily fast paced, they aren't a test of endurance either, they normally test your thinking ability over anything else.

I like the slow paced gameplay of the original Fallout games, but I also like the fast gameplay Quake.

So I'll have to say both.

I usually go for slower paced games that rely more on thinking and item/resource management, you know, RPG's, stealth games, tactical shooters. Stuff like that. Although I'll spring for faster games sometimes.

I favorite at the minute is stealth games, which if normally have to do quite slowly to stay undetected. Splinter Cell: Conviction will hopefully change the slow pace.

I don't prefer either over the other, they both have their place in my gaming diet.

This reminds me of those 4 hour endurance races in Gran Turismo 2, the most boring idea in the history of games.
That is just not true, good Sir.
Gran Turismo 3 (or 4) had 24hr endurance races...

Depends on my mood, I don't prefer one over another. Why choose, just stay flexible, yields the most results.

I like both.

I love FPSs and that's generally my favourite genre, however if I'm hungover I really cannot play them. (Unless we are counting Fallout 3)

But I enjoy slow paced games such as Civ4 and WoW, I play them when I'm on forums or MSN, they have a place.

Prefer fast pace though, that's when I feel I'm having fun and really enjoying a game instead of just chilling with some virtual entertainment.

Considering Myst is one of my favorite games of all time, i think you can guess which pace I prefer.

I HATE timed sections.
Oh yeah, like the missile silo mission in Call of Duty 4 where you have to upload the abort codes to the nukes. A short timer + veteren difficulty...UGH! It took me two and a half days to get that achievement.
