Bad Company. Even if you lag so badly you can't do anything, you can't still knife some trades or grenade launcher a wall. And I love being able to just run down trees instead of crashing them.
And it's great for getting rid of campers. Crashing a tank into a house, jumping out, and taking out everyone in the building.

For me, the series went downhill after BF Vietnam. For those of us that like single player, or have terrible internet connections, BF2, BF2142, BF Heroes etc. are terrible. You only get so many maps with a small number of bots and the decent weapons are locked.
Oh, and don't get me started on Battlefield 1943 - Why are there only Americans and Japanese?!?

"TONIGHT WE DINE IN HEELLL" Haggard Battlefield:Bad Company.

OT: Bad Company for me. The script was gold and so was the engine. The storyline was not bad or awesome but great. It was my first "good" console FPS.

Hmm. Probably a tie between 1942 and 2142. I enjoyed both very much when I played them. Sadly, my original 2142 disk snapped some time ago. I shall have to purchase a replacement.

Oh yes, I forgot to tell mine.

For me, its always been 2142.

It was always the most balanced and fun to play. It has a semi-decent selection of servers (inlike BF2), air vehicles don't completely dictate the game, all the unlocks are actually useful, and the expansion back actually gets some use.

I <3 2142. It was a blast. I loved the futuristic aspect of it - Titan mode was AMAZING!!!

Bad Company and Modern Warfare both lie gathering dust. All of the earlier versions were better, in my opinion. I just wish they'd make Battlefield 3 for the PC, and take it back to its roots.

I also think that the way any unit could take down any other unit with enough skill was a massive bonus, it sucks in 2 when a Tank or Gunship rocks in and you have no choice but to hide.
Now yah see I liked that about the older games. For starters it made it more "Realistic", but it also, mainly, made for some very tense evasion escapades on the larger maps. Found it really fun.

From the gameplay videos of Bad Company 2 so far, they might as well call that Battlefield 3 and get it over with. It's got what we liked from the old ones, but with (apparently) a lot of the kinks worked out, the ability to level everything in sight and it comes with a story mode too!

The parody of Gary Jule's "Mad World" done by Bad Company and the parody of Metal Gear Solid

and the whole blowing up the environment is cool too.

What does it mean?

When Battlefield Vietnam came out it got some pretty poor reviews if I remember correctly. Certainly it didn't measure up to the hype that 1942 and 2 got, but it has always been my favourite. The best part was probably the map loading screens with the kickass music. That and the M14 probably.

2142 for me. It's the game that introduced me to online gaming, clan matching and scrims. BF2 was also fun but 2142 allowed you to pop down into a crouch position to pwn ppl easier i thought. (BF2 was more about going prone... i couldn't be arsed to drop to the floor). Oh and 2142 didn't have those damn annoying bombing runs every 2 damn seconds... (DAMN YOU BF2 WAKE ISLAND!!!)

I played some online Bad Company, and I never was of the opinion that it was like the older games. Hmm. Maybe it was the lack of microphones and general squad-play (Although I only had live for a month, so perhaps I was just unlucky with my games.), and the clunky feel of the characters. It's hard to put my finger on it, but I still preferred (and prefer) 2142 over it.
I think the older battlefields were more like MAG is going to be. If anything, to me, MAG is seeming closer to Battlefield 3 than Bad Company 2 is. Although that all depends on how they put in vehicles.

Heh, this must all sound very vague to anyone reading, but it's a point that all my friends can relate to (Coming to my house and playing my games *Shakes fist*).

I loved both Battlefield 2 and 1942, but I'm going to have to go with 1942, because of Coral Sea. That was the greatest map in any Battlefield game, ever.
