I prefer John over Paul because while he could be a right bastard, he wasn't afraid to reveal it in his music/persona. With Paul, his 'ordinary everyman' image was so rigorously maintained and managed that it just comes across as phony. Also, I do believe that Heather Mills was Paul's karmic payback for the nasty things he's said about Yoko Ono all these years.

while i understand the significance the beatles had as an inspiration to future musicians, i really don't think they're anything special. they made mainstream music back then. compare that to the mainstream music now, i'll bet that in 20 years we won't know who the hell played which hip hop song.
