Poll: Favorite HoMM game

What is your favorite Heroes of might and magic (HoMM) game?

Mine is Heroes 3. There where so many different monsters, artifacts, heroes, cities and other things you could mix and match. And the combined artifacts where insanely powerfull and could turn a war around in your favor. And there where hundred of heroes to use, all with their own speciality.

I could keep going all day. But what is your favorite games in the series?

Most sane people will just agree with 3, as it was amazing. Hell, not 'was', IS amazing. I still play HoMM3 fairly often and even have it installed right now and have pretty much ever since I picked up the complete pack from gog. Never did play the expansion packs before, so good!

On a semi-related note I've been playing Dark Messiah of Might & Magic lately and it's actually pretty damned good. Pity the game never really took off like it had the potential too, the gameplay is damned solid and I'm rather fond of the snarky voice in your head as you play, even if she does tend to repeat things sometimes.

Hopefully the new HoMM game will be good, I have high hopes. Last one wasn't bad by any stretch, amazing music, but hopefully the new one will be even better!

I've only played the newest one, during it's beta so I would say that one, but I wish there were a few more minerals, 'cause fighting is one thing, but gathering the minerals to buy more troops is where it should be, and I read they removed what? 3 or 4 resources from the newest one, wish they hadn't

I realy liked 5 but the gameplay was just so slow. The game was good, the soundtrack epic and the story great but i just thought it took too long to play the game.

I have the same feeling when I play Heroes 5, especially when I tried to play with friends. Sometimes it would feel like the game will never finish. Heroes 5 is indeed amazing, but something is missing from it and I think Heroes 3 is still the better game, I think I can play that till the end of my days.

Heroes 3 is my favorite one. It's the game that really sells the Might & Magic universe with a beautiful and unique art style and very solid gameplay. It's just something about the musical score of the game accompanied with the very realistic depiction of mythological beings and places that get me every time. This game's design goes beyond the fantasy genre into the legends and lore of mainly medieval times which is a godsend in an industry where Tolkienesque fantasy is milked to death. It's a very classical approach to art design, reminiscent of historical paintings more than fantasy concept art of today.
