"Metal Gear?"
Ahh, the signature phrase of my favorite mercinary, Snake (Mainly Big Boss).

My question to you, the Escapians, what is you favorite game in the series?

Poll got broken, fixing it now.
Metal Gear Solid 3 is Snake Eater

I think MGS3 is the most complete.

Everything from the story to the gameplay to the graphics and sounds work beautifully. It also doesn't suffer from MGS2/4s atomic powered verbosity and it has my favourite bosses in the whole of MGS (The Boss, The Fury and The End).

Or put it another way, at a LAN party a few years ago I got bored and fired up the PS2, started playing The Boss. By the end of the fight everyone else had stopped playing Dawn of War to sit around and watch the fight.

Metal Gear Solid comes a close second, but it's suffered a little bit with age, most in terms of the controls. It still looks surprisingly good.

Metal gear solid 3, particularly in the subsistence version which fixed the atrocious camera. The automatic camo changing from 4 was great though, took a lot of the busy work out of it, but overall, in terms of story gameplay and all round execution 3 is the best.

When it comes to gameplay: MGS4. Easy. Camera control and not just standing or crawling.

However I do regard #1 and #3 very highly. Great games.

#2 was great for changing the narrative and doing what it was supposed to do, giving players another perspective on Snake.

That was what it was supposed to, right?

Right now, Peace Walker. That is becuase of the replayablity. The other games are pretty much just story mode (Apart from Sub- games).

Overall, probably 3 or 4. I would really have to play through all of them again to give a definite answer.

MGS 3 if that includes subsistence with the new camera. It makes the game 10x better. Never played 4 unfortunately as i don't have a ps3.

MGS, specifically the cleaned up Twin Snakes on the 'cube. It had the fun of the first, some function of the second and some great cut scenes. Also marks the last good game put out by Silicon Knights :p

The only one I've played was MGS: Acid. (the card based one)

Not a bad game overall. I spent many hours on it trying to unlock all the cards. And I learned many characters from the other games thanks to it.

I love Peace Walker, the resource management of the Mother Base makes me feel more in control than in other games. I love how you can play as a combat devision soldier instead of Big Boss everytime. I really love the cut scenes thought, they really drew me in and made me fall in love with the series.

1 ... no, 2 ... no, 3 ... no 4 ... no 1, I can't decide!.

Seriously, I love every aspect of each of those games. I have never played a PSP MGS, really want to though.

MGS3: Subsistence. It's basically Snake Eater with normal 3rd person perspective. It's one of my all time favorite games. Amazing story, amazing characters, amazing soundtrack, challenging gameplay and one of the most genius boss battles ever - The End. Survival part of the gameplay was really great. I loved to spend time in inventory screen and also on the radio with Snake's team. CQC was really cool, weapons were great, and also equipment. All of that really made the perfect Cold War atmosphere. And it really felt like Snake was on his own which added a lot of tension on higher difficulties. I always liked games with jungle settings so that was also a plus. I could talk (well write) about what I love about this game all day.

MGS, in my opinion had the best story, setting and characters. I spent a lot of time when I was younger killing Meryl over and over again....

I can never choose between MGS 1 and 3. The story, characters, and environment were amazing in both, but as soon as I start to look towards 3, with all of its shiny graphics and superior gameplay, my nostalgia glasses fog up and all I can see through them is the original.
