I LOVE stockpile in Halo Reach. I liked the concept of CTF but was too boring and too much effort for just 1 flag. When I play online, it's usually team deathmatch and some sort of objective but Stockpile is the most fun game mode out there.

I literally just came up with one that sound really fun (to me).

There are 3.5 teams (you'll see). One team has ten members as well as a hostage, and they are trying to get that hostage to a secluded spot where they can kill him.

The hostage is playable, and the character can pick up an a large gun but no additional magazines, as well as a mix of smaller items, which can be placed in the hostages's four pockets, each corresponding to a button on the dpad. Items that can placed there are grenades, handguns, handgun mags, four shotgun shells, or a knife. His objective is too get survive the round.

A third team is the team opposing the first one. They have two goal, one that can be accomplished three ways, each worth less points then the one prior, the other only one way.

Method one, kill the hostage (first team has too have at least one surviving member, too make it look like they were killed in a shootout) in a zone that has lots of visibility, so that the death is known.

Method two, kill the hostage anywhere else, same rules apply.

Method Three, observe with a recording sniper scope the first teams killing of the hostage (the scopes can be purchased with points, and it's an uprgade for any other scope. Can also be mounted on assault rifles).

Goal two, kill everyone on the other team. Rewards very few points, but it's better than losing. In the version with respawns on, this wouldn't work, obviously.

Team 3.5 would include one member of each of the other teams (this means the hostage, sort of). The goal of this team is to get the hostage to an evacuation spot. The hostage doesn't want to come, but escaping rewards half the points of staying alive, and more points then dying. No one is informed of the double agents ahead of time, until they take the life of a teammate, press a button to signal it. This means they can kill one another in combat. The hostage doesn't know either, and he might kill them trying to escape. If he thinks he stands a chance of escape, he could try and get past them anyway, so he can get more points.

Yes, I know this isn't actually in a game, but it's my favorite, damn it!

Otherwise I'd say it's a tie. I like variety in my game modes.

Co-op is basically the only thing I like to play online. Not a big deathmatch fan because there are far too many rabid game geeks that spend all fucking day playing said game online just so they can be pricks to the people who play occasionally, thus co-op!

Co-operative off shoots
I tend not to play online often anymore as I have come to hate the vast majority of multiplayer communitys. When ever I do go online it it with friends playing things like Halo ODST's (and soon Reach's) Firefight mode, Gears of War 2 Horde and MW2 (very rarely) spec ops.

(I doubt you care, but Im gonna try to get back into my old multiplayer playing self again when Reach comes out)

Team based games, be it TDM or objective based. In UT2004 it was TDM and in MW2 it's DOM mostly. TDM gets boring in MW2 for me (hint hint to Sniper430)

I like team based objective gameplay. My favourite multiplayer mode of all time (and the one I'm probably best at) is rush in Bad Company 2.

Now that's a game mode I'd like to play! It reminds me of the "Mission Impossible" game mode Me and my brothers played in Golden Eye. There would be a map where (in the SP) a bunch of computers would be and a prison. The Operatives had to get into the room with the computers, plant explosives, then leave and evade capture long enough to detonate it remotely. The Henchmen had their own predetermined route and once they caught an Operative, they'd have to escort them to their cell and the other Operative would have to bust them out. The Operatives had to use pistols and used the James Bond and Natalia skins. Henchmen had submachine guns and assault rifles using the skins of any villain character.

Of course these were the days of split screen so the sneaking around aspect was kind of hard to accomplish and eventually everything devolved into Deathmatch. It was a hell of a lot of fun when we were doing it right though. I worked it out in my head how to recreate it with Rainbow Six Vegas but never capitalized on it.
