I don't have many posts but I have been here a very long time, and I am also an old fogie, so two for the price of one!

I guess I'm a really Oldscapist. 5 years come December.

I remember some cool things. At least 3 major site redesigns, the introduction of Badges, and the growth of this site into the massive community it is today. When I joined there were only a couple thousand posts (I think around 3k) in the forums IN TOTAL. Now there are, literally, millions.

Despite coming here multiple times a day every day of each of those 5 years I've never been a massive poster. I'm more of an observer. Ancient and timeless.

So I shall not join your revolution. I shall do as I always do. Watch as the world burns.
ARGH. Though I was going to be the oldest. Two days.

There are people who joined in 2011 who carry the OldScapist spirit.
It's one of those nebulous ill-defined things like patriotism; some people will say it's what you feel, others will say it's how you act, others still will provide their own wacky definitions.
was 2011 a particually notable year?
Well 2011 could be deemed the year of the pony as at the start of the year (around Feb-April) there was a mass creation of pony themed threads (and a few P&SwG threads but they soon were taken over by ponies). Later on I don't think there was anything that memorable.

OT: I don't think I fit the criteria for an Oldscapist even though I watched ZP episodes before 2010 I never really strayed to lurking the forums. So yea... Good luck with user reviving! *Disappears into RP forum/WAOA chat group.*

Even though I joined midway through 2010, I do love a good revolution! Viva La Revolution!

I've been around a long time(about as long as you I believe) and I can say with a fair ammount of certainty that these fads are nothing new. I remember back in the day almost every other thing was a versus thread until the mods cracked down on them, there were also a shit ton of zombie threads for awhile. Fads come and go. In a few months there will be something new on the off topic boards.

Alas, I doubt "In with the old, out with the new" is all that constructive a cause to rally around, unless you're founding an antique shop. Revolutions and rollators just don't mix.

What's this? An oldie uprising? I guess I qualify, but I lurked for most if not all of my time here. Do I still count as old?

Do I need to shout about kids and lawns?
I think soupy's after more old people commenting, that or a genuine war. Thankfully in both cases it helps if you stab people.

Will there be waving of walking sticks and demands of "GERRAWF M'LAWN, Y'BLEDDY KIDS"? I can certainly do that.

Most of the "oldscapists" I know are either mods or still vaguely active. I'm so useful!

Do I have to move?

I lost contact with any old users who used to be on here. The ones who are still here I talk to. Would be nice to hear from them again but I can't be too bothered in tracking them down ;(

I vividly remember the April's Fool's joke that banned many a user. Vast confusion, some people raging, others crying. And then the next day we all laughed our asses off. Well, everyone who wasn't incredibly slow.
That was thanks to me. I got a thanks badge for it. MUAHAHAHAHA
Because badges mean everything, right old man? ;)
Damn straight. It was on my bucketlist when I first joined this site, and I damnwell did it. Because I'm Charlie Sheen winning in this *****.

Now, either take your pants off and dance or get off my lawn.
Hey Peter, you returned for the good ol' times thread? One has not heard of you for quite some time! You can't just leave me! I can't gush about Jak 2 alone you know?!

My "glory days" actually predate you, Souplex. Just sayin'.

That said, pretty neat to see some old posters around and about, even if most of the users I "grew up" with on the Escapist have moved on to different walks of life, there are still a few of you kicking around.

I still talk to a few of the older Escapists, some of them very rarely, but it's nice to see them around and about. If anyone can manage to summon [http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a395/NewClassic/Kittens/Marmalade.jpg][footnote]For old time's sake.[/footnote] up a FeNinja or John Johnnston, I'd be particularly impressed.

Otherwise, if predating the Zynga thing means you're an oldScapist, what happens when you're as old as Erana, or Archeopterix?

March of 09 means you were there for the glory days.
You're fine.
This is about how long you've been here, not how old you are.
Oh. Well, darn then. Here I thought I was meandering into the Grumpy Gamers group on the Escapist. Carry on then.

I remember the glory days, all right. I may or may not have spent much of my time during that time on or not on this account, but that's a story for another day. Anyhow, I can say that I most certainly agree with you about the decline in quality of threads.

Still, the old days had their bad examples as well, like that Souplex who ruined the mood wherever he went. <3

*salutes* Cadet Gray, reporting for duty! Sunshine rays in firing range, sir! :)
Aylaine. . ? You're. . . you're back? For real? I'm not imagining this, am I? I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!! ^_^

No, really. I noticed quite well when you left. . . for some reason, all of a sudden the forums lacked that positive attitude you have. We needed you. And you left us. </3 (I know, you had your reasons, but still. . . you could have appointed a successor to carry on your cheerfulness in your absence. /grumpyface)

Well, it seems we're already halfway there. So. LET'S TURN THIS REVOLUTION TO THE MAX!!! *runs around waving the old-timers-flag-of-escapist*

Now then, I may or may not have noticed some people who may or may not be. . . against the revolution. Redlin5, Para, got something to say? <3

RatRace here, and I lend my services to this noble cause. I can recall some of the older users and I believe I was there for the glory days, even if it was at the tail end of them.
