I just haven't got the foggiest idea how the heck these ridiculous rumors even started. This happens to be the exact same design we saw in Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time 3D. The exact same design! What was with all that "LE GASP FEMALE!?" nonsense in the first place? None of it makes a lick of sense.

Link as he is now is just one pair of tits away from being a girl so why not just do it? It would honestly be great to see Nintendo evolve a somewhat stale series into something completely new and change one of the most iconic video game characters into a girl. If they did that I know I would actually go out and buy a WiiU, even if it was just to play a female Link and I know many others feel the same. There's a great opportunity to make a lot of money and revive a fairly unpopular game console. In short, Link as a chick would be a win-win for pretty much everyone.

I woulnd't mind playing a female Link. I wouldn't like it, I wouldn't hate it. I wouldn't notice even. Maybe once 'n awhile I'll notice Link's a girl, and that his--her shouts are more higher pitched, but considering the story, gameplay and character interaction won't change, I'll most likely forget.

You think evolving means putting tits on a character? Trust me, what the Wii U needs is a big library of must play games and some adjustments to how it handles online and the OS, with more advertising(that doesn't suck)

One gimmic isn't gone to save the console.

"Look, that character now has boobs! Still no actual personality, and the gender change is only cosmetic, but hell, I'll get a Wii U now. I mean, I don't play Zelda games... but a girl! I get to play as a girl with no real personality, outside of shouting and derp-faces!

Gaming has evolved!!"

I voted no, why? cause I think that instead of changing Link gender Zelda should be playable and MORE relevant to the Zelda story.

He has a hairstyle that while masculine in nature, is seen as feminine because here, we associate it with ponytails.

Also, thanks to the cell shading, it's made his face look a bit smoother, and less rounded in the chin.

I don't see any reason to change it. Link's character has never been extremely important to the story, the only reason they don't just give you a character editor is to keep a sense of series continuity.

And besides, Nintendo already has a perfectly good female adventure hero, and it's a shame there was nothing about her at E3 this year :/
Exactly what I'm saying. Link has nothing defining about his gender that would drastically change if he was a girl. Other then boobs and a higher voice.

And for story and world interaction, it'd still be the same. Except they'd change the girls flirting with him into men.

Link is the easiest established male to turn female, but the reasons why you can do it soo easily, is why it's meaningless.

The only impact you'll have is on purists(the ones who cringe when he's not in a green tunic)

I'm not saying that I can't play as a Female Link... I'm just saying that this is stupid as fuck. I mean, why not just give us a Zelda game where ZELDA is the playable female character? Various Zelda incarnations have kicked ass in their own right. This is just kinda... dumb. Link is the boy, Zelda is the girl. This feels almost like a pandering and a cop-out. UNLESS...

Okay, hear me out on this. We could do kinda a Mulan thing here, where Zelda takes on the PERSONA of Link, to be a hero without tipping people off that their princess is kicking ass to save their sorry peasant existences. Like, there is no Link, but the various prophesies say that the boy in green blah blah blah hero blah blah save Hyrule blah Princess. So Zelda's all like, "Know what? Fuck prophesies, I've got this one."

I'm with Moviebob in the sense that I think it'd be pretty hilarious if Nintendo did that after the whole Ubisoft Assassins' creed thing

Personally, I think it would be something that would re-cement my love of the franchise all over again. Little backstory; as a kid, I looked up to Link; Ocarina of Time incarnation to be specific. He was my personal hero and role model. I wanted to be JUST like him when I grew up, and I did my best to have just that happen; teaching myself swordplay, archery, and general never-stop-trying attitude to mold myself in his image. Even when I grew up a bit more in high school, I still looked up to him.

Fast forward a few years, I've moved out of my parents' house, and I'm on my own. Suddenly, the realization comes relatively all at once, over the course of maybe two or three weeks: I'm transgendered. I'm a GIRL now. Suddenly there's a huge divide between the man I always wished I could be and the woman my life is shaping me into.

Seeing a female Link would mean the world to me. I wouldn't have to be afraid to keep following his (or in that instance, her) example; if the Spirit of the Hero is agendered, what does it matter what bathroom I use? If either a man OR a woman could carry the Triforce of Courage and be the chosen knight of the three golden goddesses, what's stopping me from being everything I want to be, man or woman?

You mean the one that's currently carrying the design from the game that made her a walking doormat and is wearing the very high heels her undersuit's original design document SPECIFICALLY FORBADE HER FROM EVER WEARING? Yeah, no. We need more.

Not to be rude but the zero suit was introduced before Other M came out and the design notes only said not to add too much heel. Even then the heels she has now are clearly detachable and not part of her suit so they wouldn't have the same problem as the ones given to her in Other M (being how they would fit under the power suit).

The Link in the reveal footage doesn't look all that feminine to me, but whatever. I'd be perfectly ok with a female Link, after all I don't think Link's gender is central to his character and, as has been discussed, it's often a different incarnation with every game.

Where's the "Why isn't it happening already?" option?
I love to play as female characters, the more the merrier I'd say.

They could just still the Whole script from Mulan. Change it up a little bit where they're having a contest to Choose the professionalized hero Link to Defeat Gannon. People who try out to be Link and only guys. Chick pretends to be a dude and it isn't found out tell later.

I don't care one way or another. I don't play LoZ because of Link's incomparable manliness.

You know what would be amusing? Go with a Nintendo classic and have a end game stinger where Links's clothes start flashing before disappearing to reveal a swim suit. Well maybe not that amusing to a lot of people, but I'd get a nostalgic chuckle out of it.
