well Earisu is her japanese name (did have the katakana here but it looks like the site dosent recognise it) which to me translates better as Aeris when saying it, basically its just do you translate su as an s or a th I would go for s most of the time but im not a translator and my understanding of japanese isnt that great.Somonah said:I've always been under the assumption that it was ment to be Aerith, but poor translation turned it into AerisLauncelot111 said:Also, in the spirit of changes, why did Square suddenly decide that Aeris was Aerith? (and by suddenly I mean years ago, but I just never understood why they decided Aerith was better)
I was always told "Aerith" was latin for "heavenly" or something like that. What you say makes more sense thoughLord Quirk said:Apparently 'Aerith' is supposed to sound like 'Earth', because she's an Ancient, and has a connection to the Planet and all that.
I felt Vincent and Red XIII had decent limits? The only problem with Vincent was you relinquished control of him, but Red's Stardust Ray and Earth Rave where quite powerful and hit multiple times (of course you had to use Howling Moon to unlock Earth Rave, so I could see the problem there)dimensional said:An optional reworking of limit breaks would be good as well maybe give Tifa, Red XII and Vincent something decent in this department?
One word... bullsh*t.kahlzun said:So, it is beginning to look like Square-Enix is planning a remake of FF7.
They already did that when they started making the combat real-time and decided to work on nothing much graphics rather than gameplay and story.dimensional said:if they messed it up it could doom the entire series imo.
Not really Vincents limit breaks are bad because you lost control and you can get him stronger by not using them sure they are helpful early on but are redundant later especially against bosses while ordinary enemies you can kill anyway, Tifas was just bad it took ages to build and didnt even do that much damage unless you landed yeah on all the slots and it was one enemy also it really didnt go with her ultimate weapon. Red XIIs were ok but hardly comparable to Clouds Omnislash, Barrets Ungarmax (which was by far the most powerful except possibly cait siths with the best set up and only a level 3 so it built faster) Yuffies Doom of the living (again level 3) Cait Siths reels (If you knew how to abuse them they were the best hands down, instant death for all) Cids Highwind and Aeris Great Gospel (I had to use cheats to get it though as im not sure its even possible without them.Rickolas Walrus said:I felt Vincent and Red XIII had decent limits? I disagree 1 had bugger all story and wasnt great in combat 2 was atrocious in everything across the board and was the worst FF game I have ever played 3 was 1 but updated same with 5. 4,6 and 7 were great same with 10 and 8 and 9 were ok 12 was bad 13 was ok the series is all over the place personally the best combat in the series for me is 10 which was ofc entirely turn based but 13s would be the second best once it actually took the training wheels off i.e post game but most of them have been using the ATB system which isnt entirely real time or turn based.Byere said:EDIT:

Simply put, yes... 1, 2 and 3 weren't the best of games. 4 onwards was went storyline and gameplay became the better half of the series. However, while it's true that change does not mean bad (again, see 4 onwards since 4 was the first game to have pre-set character classes instead of the class-changing from previous and future titles), it doesn't always necessarily mean good either.dimensional said:-snip-
"Now, experience this story of conflict, betrayal and triumph like never before..."Lilani said:Noooo, they are planning to re-release it on PC. Not remake, re-release. Same old game, same old graphics, same old everything. Just able to run on modern operating systems.
Don't you think if they were going to make upgrades, they would have advertised that fact? You know, with some new gameplay or cutscene footage? I mean it's coming out before the end of this year, if they were doing any sort of upgrades they would have something to show by now.Byere said:"Now, experience this story of conflict, betrayal and triumph like never before..."
Yea... you mean like when it was released on PS1 or previously released on PC over a decade ago?
I agree that 12 was bad partly for the terrible battle system which was just obtuse it would have been better giving them good A.I that actually learnt i.e like 13 or make it turn based/ATB instead but no instead you have to go in and change their A.I routines every time you encountera a different enemy if you wanted them to perform optimally. So in essence you had to babysit them it would have been far better imo just to input the orders manually, I also thought 12s story ,art direction and characters were terrible and that the quickening system and summons quickly became next to useless for me its the second worst FF game ever made at least the end game was good though 60+ hours in.Byere said:*huge snip*
1-4 got remakes on various handheld consoles and 5 and 6 were re-released on PSN for download but had no updates done to them at all and were ports of the Final Fantasy Collection on PS1.mirasiel said:6 and lower already got an updated re-release didn't they?TaintedSaint said:I hope they don't they should remake a good ff game not a mediocre one like 7
Don't think 12 needs to be re-released either.
