In human beings, when presented with a confrontaion, there are two natural reactions: Fight, to confront the challenge head on, or flight, to avoid the problem. Now simply due to genetic variation, some people are more inclined to one over the other.

Which one are you?

I personally, being a very passive person, have a somewhat "neither" response which is just to hope the problem goes away, like an armadillo. I guess if it had to be classified I would put it down as flight.

If it is something I believe I can deal with, I deal with it. If I am only confronted by the collateral damage of some other people's problem, then I try to get as far away as possible.

As of yet, I've never ran away from a fight, but that doesn't mean I'm an aggressive twat who fights at every opportunity.

I will stand my ground and defend myself, but I won't go on the offensive unless it rarely takes off, which it really does.

In the more ambiguous sense, I tend to think problems sort themselves out, and the vast majority of the time, they do, so there's no point worrying about them.

Whatever happens, happens.

Flight, I rarely find something important enough to risk damage over. I'm not about to die by stabbing over the twenty bucks in my wallet. That doesn't mean I'm afraid of confrontation and I know causes I'll fight for but I prefer to solve my problems without violence.

Just a side note, research has suggested that humans actually have a Fight-Flight-Freeze system, which would explain why some people neither fight or fly.

Personally, I've never been in a life-threatening situation that would require one of those reactions. I think that flight generally seems like the most effective of the three options though.

What would you call backing into a corner with a weapon, violently attacking anything that seems like a threat.
Because it seems about a mixture of both.

I dunno, I'm not a little kid anymore so maybe I'm more of a full out fight kind of dude now.

Depends on the situation.

If I'm grossly outnumbered, or there's a weapon I can't disarm take from them (ie, gun, I'm not getting that close to someone with a gun XD), I'm going to run for the hills.

Typically though, if it's one to three people, I'm not terribly concerned. I've done it before. Sure, I come out sore and bruised, but I'm a big guy and can hold my own.

Although I will admit, if I'm fighting, it's only because I was unable to talk my way out of it. I'd much rather not fight, but I'm not holding back once fists start flying. I'm only running if I know that my chances of winning are much less than me losing, or if I know that backup in on the way. That being said, I'm not bailing if I hear sirens. I'm sticking around to make sure my story gets heard, and the cops realize that it was self defense.

I usually fight, but then I don't give a damn about my own personal health. If one of my friends is in danger, I will defend them.

"neither"= freezing, i.e: the bunny caught in a car's lights as he is about to get run over effect.

Flight if I have to think about it, cos if i'm thinking about the situation, chances are I will get scared.

If I react purely on instinct and can turn my fear into vicious anger...then fight please ^^

Nope, I require an 'It Depends' option or no votey-votey from the Jack person.

You forgot the third F (freeze) =o
I believe I usually get ready to fight when I feel something spooky. But if I see a football sized blue spider, I'm going to leg it.

If it's a literal problem of violence, Flight every time - I'm not going to do that. I don't have to prove myself to anyone. Fighting a problem is too direct and usually makes it worse, best just to work at a problem from the side-lines until it goes away, if you deal with it head on it may just get worse.

If it is a situation like some monster/hoodlums is trying to eat my face(or stab it if hoodlums) than I have to go with fight because there is no way my fat ass is going to outrun much.

Mostly it would depend on the situation and I won't know for sure until I face it.

It depends on the situation I suppose...

If I think I have a no chance, or that staying will solve nothing, than flight...

If I have a chance, or think that fleeing will solve nothing, than fight...
