As-is, I'm already out on medical... so it's a moot point. Hypothetically, though, I'd join. Already did.

Depends. If we were being actively invaded - well, assuming I hadn't already fled the country - I'd join up. If it was conscription to go fight overseas, then I'd tell the recruiters to go fuck themselves with a pair of scissors.

Just say the color green is talking to you and telling you to burn people, they wont bother you. Me, well my knees are borked thanks to my service before. If they took me in with my busted knees, yeah I'd go that kind of desperation means shit really hit the fan.

Definitely join. Its not like I have any goals for myself right now and being forced to grow up fast is something I longed for but was too lazy to do it. I'm more of a fighter than a thinker between the two labels.

It depends on why they are drafting. If we are being invaded I would join. If we are invading someone else or fighting in war I do not agree with I wouldn?t.

Fuck the army.

And if my country starts conscription then fuck my country too.

If we were completely at peace then I suppose I would grit my teeth and bear it. But if we were at war or looked like we were about to be then I would be out of there like a bat out of hell.

I think I shall leave the soldier-ing to people who have nothing better to do then absorb bullets at the behest of old men in big hats.

As a Canadian. If my government kindly asked me to fight and slash or die (and/or) for my country I would gladly do so. If you can't get behind what your government is saying then you should move to somewhere better suited for you. Not that I believe in the current status of war on our globe as is right now, but if they instituted a draft I would not flee, I would not run from it.

All living things are dying everyday. It is inescapable. War isn't the worse thing to happen to us humans. After all we are overpopulating this planet far beyond what it could hold already. Prolonging the inevitable starvation and extinction of our species. Perhaps a good world war is what we need. Kill off the weak and move forward as a stronger species with a better sense of what our actions do to our environment. Since we were born dead anyway.

Those that believe violence is wrong and that everyone should skip merrily along with out any altercations being well mannered to each other and sharing our feelings is part of the everlasting problem of where in the bloody F*** are we going to put all these people. Death is good business in the plan for staying alive.

If you were handed a muffin for no reason at all. No one asked "hey dude you want a muffin?" and were just handed one for no reason at all. Would you care if someone took that muffin from you. I mean it was just given randomly you don't even know what flavour it is. The only difference is that now you have a muffin should you care when it is gone.

Life is but one day and memories. We experience one single day at a time, and simply remember everything else we have done, as well dream of the future. Would dying today be the same as dying 30 years from now. Yes 30 years from now I would still not want to die but I accept that I will have to some day. Might as well go down swinging, why run for a dear life when you are going to loose it anyway. Why not stand tall and face it head on. Why not give your life for something worth while to you. If you can't fight on behalf of your country and the decisions it makes then find a new country.

No one ever asked to be born. You didn't know the rules when you started playing. You just got shoved into it and when its gone it will be gone. If you have nothing worth dying for you have nothing to live for. I would gladly die for my family my friends my lover and my country.

I REALLY don't like my country too much. So even if it is for the defense of my country I would hesitate. I would certainly prioritize getting my parents out of here first.

After that, my father would probably want me to fight. I mean, he fought to protect our country 40 years ago. Why shouldn't I?

My country has conscription. Been there, done that.
(The only people that would flee are those with whom the system is introduced. If you grow up knowing you might or perhaps will be conscripted, it's a completely acceptable thing.)

In the third situation I'd likely join the military or a beneficial service - though I'd prefer to never have to take a life. I love the people in my country, and I will do what I can to protect them if things come down to the line.
Exactly this. If it came down to it and it it really mattered of course I'd help out.

If it was a draft to join the current wars, I would run. I have very strong views about them.

If it was a war where the country was actually in danger (a la WW1-2) I would join.

If I couldn't get out of it "legally" I would run. Wars are not fought in the interest of civilians in general and I will not support any army in any way.

If I were capable of internal sabotage and mutiny however I might reconsider.

Cheers,
Matsjo

I'd join Rabbinical school, so I don't have to join (Cookie for the reference)

Jokes aside, I'd flee to Canada, or the UK, assuming neither countries are affected.

If they are... I'd go to Germany, and if that's affected... Switzerland.

I put up join, but realized that if it was that serious that my country (Australia) was considering the draft I would probably already be in service. And I kinda assume a large chunk of people here would do something similar, we actually do have a pretty good record for volunteer service. And although I would probably join voluntarily I would actually oppose a draft been put in place. There's just no sense sending someone somewhere when they are opposed to it from the very start and I can actually see why a lot of people would have reservations about such a commitment.

I'd show up at the recruitment center like I did when I was drafted here last time, but I still have aspergers (Got me labelled as unfit for duty) and now I have a right ankle that was broken three times last year and as a result I can't jump or run much anymore.

So I'd show up but I'd probably just be sent home right afterwards, or get assigned to logistics or other paperwork.
