I was going to post this in another thread, but it may have counted as derailment and the discussion was already too far gone.

DRIV3R was labelled as one of the worst games of 2005. The driving physics were broken. The AI was brain-dead. The missions were boring. They cared more about going to each location and recreating it faithfully on top of hiring Michael Madsen, Ving Rhames, Michelle Rodriguez, Mickey Rourke and Iggy Pop. It's a classic case of prioritizing style over substance when they can't afford to do so. It's an awful game.

It's one of my favourite games.

If Steam itself or the community it fosters were to start filtering games based on quality, DRIV3R would rightfully be denied entry. I would have missed out on one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences.

With this in mind, should it be a priority to filter games based on quality? There are genuinely bad games that exist which do genuinely bring joy to those who play them. Is it ethical to delete these games when

1) Digital platforms means that there is theoretically infinite storage space, meaning the limitations of physical distribution don't apply?
2) The buyer should be able to research the game themselves?

Or should we police the market because of the prevalence of sub-par merchandize and outright scams?
