so since July my sister has fucked with her computer so much that i've had to do 2 complete system restores. I dont know how she can get 30 trojans and 12 worms in a week. Anyways do you always have to fix other peoples stuff? Do you have any interesting stories regarding this shit. if so what's always breaking, who are you fixing it for, what do you get for fixing their stuff, and what do you need to send in to get fixed.

I generally get roped into fixing people's electronics/computers. So much so that since I seem to have a natural affinity for electronics (whatever the hell that means) that they started referring to me as having "Magic Fingers".

Always a funny talking point with lasses I meet in bars.

I'm usually in the position of the guy with the exploding computer in the background asking for advice.

Woo, same here. But only because everybody else is incompetent with technology

I fix people's cars as I'm a geek for mechanics since a very young age.
I can fix things in houses too, like, just general electronic crap :)

My cousin and his girl had a few trojans and some spyware on their PC. They also managed to screw up their router in the process of trying to fix it themselves. In comes me with the compute knowledges to save the day. I ripped the viruses and trojans out *forcefully* and I ended up scraping their router cause they boned it somehow. Just plugged that ***** straight in the computer and skipped the router altogether. Got it clean and running in about 30 minutes and left 50 bucks richer.

Most of the time there I was just watching football and getting stoned with them. Can't beat that shit for 50 dollars!

I have had fixed things in the past, but I always tell them how to do it so they don't bother me again.
every single time i fix thing i show the people how to do it themselves and they still need me next time it messes up

If I can take it apart, I can put it together. My father still thinks computers just magically work. He's been through 3 computers in a many years since I moved far enough away that I can't come over and fix something. He piles papers and other things around it, he never dusts and surfs for porn with wild abandon. He never thought I knew about it. He thought he did a good job at hiding it. But if you've fixed enough computers you know when someone who doesn't know computers and the internet too well is looking at a lot of porn. I've taught him well enough about email viruses, but talking about porn site viruses enters an awkward area.

Same. Sorta.

It's more a matter of helping some mates (for instance) install something, because apparently they can't click download and then mash the next button until it turns into a finish button.

I fix people's electronics. I don't ask for payment, but they do anyway... At least it makes me feel like less of a greedy bastard.
