Poll: Flashmob Rave!!

Alright so I just got back from an awesome rave that was held at my college library. It was EPIC! I had never been to a rave before this one and I must say that I was blown away by how much fun it was. What are your opinions on raves? If you've ever been to one, do you have any stories to tell us Escapists?

I have a small little anecdote about something that happened at tonight's rave. Our school mascot rushed the doors with everyone else and then crowd surfed for nearly the entire time I was in the building. It was amazingly fun! Everyone started shouting his name and it basically turned into a techno-fueled school rally. I only hope this becomes a school tradition, as I would definitely do it again next time.

Sorry if this post is a little stream-of-consciousness... I am still on an adrenaline high here almost an hour later! Haha. So what are your thoughts on raves, fellow Escapists?

Used to. Went to my first in 1992 but I was just some 14 year old kid on acid at a wierd party in a warehouse rather than a full on raver. Started taking pills and listening to gabba and acid techno in 97, then things really took off. Did too much E so it kinda stopped working in the end and K only amused me at raves for a while. Then heroin, and that kinda put a stop to it around 2005. Went to one on my birthday last year though that a bunch of kids put on. It's kinda wierd to see raves being put on and attended by kids and me being the old git that stands around at the back watching while sober. Most of the people there were 16-18 (probably, anyone younger than me looks 16-18 to me now), although I think the guy who had the soundystem was one of the old Unsound crew from London who is about my age. Turns out he was from just down the road from me and knows a couple of my old friends and dealers...

Oh ok. Well I guess I'll just make do with what I have then. It's 5:30 in the morning here and I can't be bothered to remake it. Got lots of studying to do...

It's a "skill" I picked up over the course of my college freshman year. I'm studying for finals right now and I've pulled a few all-nighters over the past week. Trust me though, when this is all over, I'm gonna be sleeping for a full 24 hours! XD

Raves are epic, I went to one this time in Oklahoma, some big abandoned warehouse, there was like three thousand people in there and I got in a fight with some guys. So me and my friends (all three of us) were up against like ten guys, we kicked their asses, and just before the fight started, I will swear this to what ever god you worship, the DJ started playing some techno remix of the mortal kombat theme song. in summary, AWESOMEST NITE EVAH!

Anyway I havn't had too much experience with them... but I'm more of a pub guy myself. If I wanted a fight I could always go to The Alex (does anyone on the escapist know of what I speak there?)
