So yesterday, a guy asked the internet to help him with his daughter's Flat Stanley project [http://www.facebook.com/events/324756220914146/] (if you don't know what the whole Flat Stanley deal is, the fat skinny is kids make this paper guy named Flat Stanley, after the book and character of the same name [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Stanley], mail him off, and get pictures and maybe even a letter of what he's done while away), and I decided 'why not?' and agreed to help him. I printed out his daughter's Flat Stanley and the next day (today) went off to Manhattan and went about Midtown, taking a bunch of pictures with Stanley all over the place (places include Nintendo World [which admittedly I lost my shit in because of all the Pokemon stuff they had. I bought myself a Cyndaquill!], FAO Schwartz, Rockefeller Center, and Central Park). I had a lot of fun, and had fond memories of when I sent off my own Flat Stanley back when I was in third grade.

Now Escapists, have you ever sent off a Flat Stanley and/or had one sent to you? Or is this something you haven't heard of before/never done? If you did send one/get one, where did it go? The one I sent out went to Bellrose, Queens, New York, and as I said above, the one I got went to Midtown Manhattan.

My only exposure to flat Stanley was that episode of King of the Hill.

We must rectify this! *presses random button on keyboard* Martha, send over the plans of the Flat Stanley project to wherever this chap is from. Pronto! *sits back, expecting something to happen*

Okay so... my cousin did this insane shit for my little brother's Flat Stanley project while he was in Spain (he's still there for school) and it was over-the-top and fucking hilarious. I'll try to grab some of the pictures from my mom tomorrow if someone reminds me. It was epic as shit.

I've heard of people doing this with stuffed animals, but I don't trust sending any of mine off to strangers and just trusting that they'll come home.

My five year old cousin from Texas sent him to my family once. We took some pictures around town, at Cedar Point (I live about fifteen minutes from it), etc.

We got a picture of him at the top of the Millennium Force. If Flat Stanley was a contest, my little cousin would have won.

It's been forever since I've managed to get out to Cedar Point. It feels like it has been on my "to do" list for a decade now. So jealous.
