Poll: Former Microsoft Console buyers: Will you buy the 720?

I have neither the time, money or mental health (capacity? Looking for the right wording) to deal with my gaming experience not working when I need it to. That was the reason I went into the console market to begin with, that was the reason I got pissed when my old xbox started to not respond with my games on disk. If Microsoft goes through with this paranoia-inducing machine I will not be buying. It will create a constant fear of disconnection, loosing both progress and flow, a stress-factor that will ruin every feeling of immersion, fun and excitement and quite possibly preventing me from actually logging on; good and stable connection or not.

I'm fearing, I want this next xbox to work out, I really do, but if the rumors are true, and nothing has changed after about a year of release, I am going to look elsewhere for my system.

Thinking of either a PS4 or WiiU. Or 3DS. PS4 seems more like the lesser of two evils at this point and we can always count on Nintendo to make quality games. There are some fantastic games on WiiU and some more coming. And I can get a 3DSXL with Mario Kart 7 bundle for $170. Or get [a ref="http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Electrics/Les-Paul/Matt-Heafy-Les-Paul-Custom.aspx"]the new Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom[/a].

I have a 360 and love it but I never play online. If i want to download some DLC I will hook it up specially but other than that it is offline.
If this always online bullshit is true then congratalations Sony you have just won yourself a customer. If sony pulls it to then I will be forced to stay in the past and skip this whole generation and hope the heads of microsoft and Sony have grown some sense before the next one.

Nah. I bought a Xbox and a 360 (both used if that makes any difference) and while I loved some of the exclusives it just isn't worth it. If even a couple of the rumors are confirmed it will be a definite no-buy. And even if none of the rumors are true I still probably won't buy it. I'm just not enthused about the upcoming generation, hell I probably won't get a PS4 either and I'm a bit of a Sony fanboy.

Certain exclusive titles have to appear on the system before I can justify getting into it. Most of the exclusives are slowly drifting to the PS more often. Then again I bought a 360 because both my laptop & desktop died in the same 2 week period. After that I learned how to build them.

One of the big reasons for having an Xbox for me was playing with my friends. Back then I had epileptic internet, so when it was having a seizure (nearly always) I'd play Oblivion. I ended up buying a console and paying for live just to talk to my friends using a shitty mic that would always break (I went through about 6 of the things in a span of 2.5 years) on a service that barely fucking worked. I'm so glad I switched to PC. Seriously.
As for which xboxes I own: Original xbox (still works, although disc tray jammed), 1 launch 360 that lasted for a month, and an Elite which has mostly served me well (but refuses to connect to the net).
Tl;dr: I have an original Xbox, have had 2 360s, and will not by a nextbox.
Now, I do have plans to get a PS3 and a new desktop.

I bought an Xbox and a 360 and have enjoyed both except for the optical drive problems that seem to plague the original Xbox and that horrible Metro dashboard they made to be compliant with the Kinect. >_>

Whether I get a 720 hinges on two things.

1. If it has that always-online crap.
2. If the thing actually works for the most part. I don't want The RRoD: Part 2, thank you very much.
Don't worry about the red ring of death. They have fixed that. It's now blue because that seems more futuristic.

OT: No, I wont buy it if it has always online. I bought a 360 for the multiplatform releases, not for its exclusives. Now I bought a PS3 this January because of the exclusives. If Sony and Nintendo will keep offering exclusives then they are the systems I will have. Otherwise I will stick to my Wii U and PC.

Nope. Always on is a no sell for me on a console. And the same goes for the PS4, if it turns out they do implement something like that. This upcoming generation is gonna be nice and cheap for me.

I haven't been interested in either console at all personally. The PS4 seems the best way to go for console players as it seems like it for this generation at least. I can't fathom what Microsoft's reason for doing this is. The tears from them will be rather delicious to read.

I will be sticking to my PC however. No reason investing in a PS4 when it barely reaches the power of my current computer. I like gaming on my chair in front of the monitor rather than on a couch and on a big TV with a controller.

I have an original xbox and a 360. I'm still not ready to call yes or no on the new xbox (or PS4 for that matter), though an always online system isn't winning it any points.

The biggest deciding factor for me has always been the console exclusive titles more than any particular brand loyalty. I also haven't played a game on console for ages now (the only two recently were portal 2 - because I didn't want to buy 2 copies for multiplay with my housemate and ME3 because I played ME1 and ME2 on xbox).

The "always online" in itself doesn't really bother me personally - my xbox is pretty much always connected to the internet anyway - though it can only hurt their market in terms of potential buyers. I guess it comes down what they do with it. I mean are games going to be account registered? No more used xbox games?

I didn't vote in the poll because it didn't have the option - waiting until 720 is revealed before making a decision.

Don't even care. I grow tired of Microsoft's practices in their console business. Using Xbox Live is a disgusting experience. You pay a subscription fee just to use it, and yet you are still mired with a stupidly insulting amount of ads.

I also don't care for all of their exclusives, with the exception of Alan Wake, which was released to PC recently (so who cares at this point). Gears of War, Halo.. eh.

I'm also not completely decided on a PS4, but I am already interested in their projected lineup. We will see.

Not getting a Wii U in the foreseeable future. I play on PC and find it difficult to keep up with all the games worth playing.. so... yeah.

Bought both consoles but I won't buy a system that requires an internet connection.

Simply voted and commented to get the word out to M$ that it is a big fucking mistake.

Even if they just go with a similar model as with the 360 i won't buy it anymore. I only use my 360 for my old offline games and haven't bought a new game on it for ages. My gold has expired ages ago as well.

If it has always online then NO, i will not buy it. My connection is pretty poor as it is (I live on an acreage so there are only two providers that cover out here, and neither are amazing) and I get disconnected from games at least once per online session, and get disconnected from xbox live once every 2-3 at least. An always online console would be probably one of the worst purchases i've made, especially at the rumoured price.

Nope. Ever since I got a gaming PC last summer my 360 has been collecting dust in the corner so even if the 720 does not do the "always online" thing, I'll still have no interest in purchasing it.

if it kills used games then I can't support it because it doesn't support me. That's fine, if they don't want my business, I'm fine with the 360's lineup and if I want to shift into the next generation, I'll get a PS4, as long as they don't kill used games too. In that case I'll just wave goodbye to the medium until the craziness goes away, or my financial situation drastically changes.

Even without the whole always online rumours I was not all that keen on getting a 720.
I enjoyed my 360 for a while, but it continually let me down over time- I got red rings, there were less and less first party exclusives being made, and I also eventually got fed up with having to pay for live.
Microsoft really has to redeem itself in my eyes for me to even feel remotely tempted to buy the next Xbox.

If it is always online then i wont be buying it, if it isnt always online then i may get it at some point. but ive really gone pc recently and have just ordered a bunch of new componants for it so i see no reason to buy a new console any time soon.

especially given my financial state
