They say its the worlds greatest motorsport and I tend to agree. I was Just wondering how many people out there in the great escapist community watch F1 Racing ? Also if you do watch what is your favorite driver/teams/ and race/track.

My favorite team is Ferrari and driver is currently Felipe Massa. My favorite races were the canadian grand prix (Circuit Gilles Villeneuve) and the French Grand Prix but both of those are gone.. So i'll go with the Nurburgring.

what? never! I thought NASCAR was the most intense racing sport ever [/sarcasm]

On a serious note personally I prefer Rally sports, less computers more awesome.

No! you have it all wrong! British Touring Car Racing is the most intense by far! : P

I don't really follow motorsport, it is a bit boring to watch cars go in a circuit fifty or more times.

Sometimes, I catch the occasional race. But the last race of the previous season was just fantastic with the last minute overtake and the crashes.

F1 is just to gosh darned expensive to get into (as a spectator) tickets are in the 200$ range(indy) IIRC and it's not fan friendly. I go to ALMS racing, there you can go in the pits talk to the drivers and get a close up view of the behind the scenes stuff.

The tech in F1 is amazing though, it's just not fun to watch.

The closest I've been to Formula racing is the Genesis port of Virtua Racer, which I remember loving as a game. As a sport, I can't say I'm too big a fan. Maybe it's the whole idea of the cars being specially-designed just for racing, as opposed to an ordinary touring car that's been modified like in Le Mans.

I am still waiting to see a F1 car drive upside down.
Which is totaly possible cept there isnt a driver out there crazy enough to volunteer for that since the speed you would have to reach upside down for the downforce to be 100% would be very dangerous, let alone the fact that you would be upside down...wonder if top gear would let me borrow the Stig...
upside down ? you mean in like in a loop ?

no like completely upside down, say you start in a tunnel, if you could build an easy grade for the car to just shift up the wall and then on the ceiling at a high enough speed the downforce would cause it to stick up there. Of course the car would have to be going over 165 mph.
Actually it could be going 78-81 MPH and has a 1-1 ratio, at 118 mph its almost 2-1. Lol just looked it up. Amazing cars.

i wonder if it would be technically possible since the front wing is so close fron the ground. i think you would end up tearing off the front wings.

but it will be better with those huge cars they had in the 80's, the downforce was higher on those modeles i think...

bastard! lol, thanxs for finding that. It would be awesome to see, dont know who would volunteer their multi-million dollar car though. And as mentioned above how fragile the body work really is, all in all it would be a horribly expensive stunt... i still keep my fingers crossed that topgear on day might attempt it.
also one thing that is incredible with those cars is that they are so tiny ! have you sit in one of them ? I was barely fitting in it. Jacques Villeneuve is way shorter than i expected when i saw him...

It's ridiculously difficult to follow F1 in the States because all the slack-jawed pea-brained yokels in this country like NASCAR. I have to chase down live feeds in the darker channels of the Internet (I've got a couple of sources but I'm pretty sure the moderators would rather I not link to them). Plus there's that whole time-difference thing since I live on the US West Coast.

Thats rough dude... we get every race on tv here on two different channels. I'm on the east coast of Canada though and the races are early morning sundays when they are in europe so i can imagine how early that must be on the US west coast. When they are in asia though it sucks because they are on at like 3am here.

I love German soccer matches but getting up at 6:30 AM on a Saturday morning to watch them live via the Internet is a daunting challenge for me (considering I can barely drag myself out of bed at eight during the week and I'm not sentient until at least 11:30.)

I try to follow it. This seasons hasn't got me really intrested. It seems the races are won in court rather than on the track, and that's hardly intresting. Also, the whole diffusor-thingy has put me off.

Last season was a whole lot more intresting, at least in my oppinion. It wasn't the standard 'Schumacher wins championship 4 races before last one'. This season will be intresting once they sort out the cars.

But sure, I've still got my fingers crossed for Räikkönen.

Was just about to start this thread but I used the search button like a good lickle boy =]

but yeah my dad keeps on about how badass it used to be and watching some of the older footage it was, they've pumped too much money into it making it more dependent on the car than the driver...which I think is very wrong.

MASSIVE high five for mentioning the BTCC, by far the best race series in the world!

But this season is the most interesting F1 season for a long time, I'm supporting Brawn GP and Red Bull so I'm enjoying it a lot at the minute (And BMW, but hopefully they'll pick up the pace again next race)
