Bill O'Reilly doesn't believe a word he's saying; he's a smart guy. He's just doing it to trick people. The people at Fox News have one task, and that is to control those who watch it and to form their opinions for them.

Stop raging about Fox News' supposed ignorance and stupidity; they know what they're doing. And they're GOOD at it.
And that doesn't scare you?? Besides, if they, through cleverness, spread stupidity, then they are stupid. Do you see my logic?

[/quote]

If you're scarred that means the terrorists at Fox News win!

I dislike most media "graphics flying everywhere and hot chicks replacing thoughtful commentators" news stations, but I got to say, Fox news has given me more reasons to hate them than any other oganization ever. They are self righteous liars who make shit up and get pissed if you call them on it. I've seen more bullshit stories and slants from them than from all other media outlets combined. Maybe because when they make stuff up, they scream it at you. Or maybe the "liberal" media only covers the Fox incidents. By the way, saying Fox is allowed to lie because it's the only conservative show around is total crap.

But most of all it embarrasses me. I'm embarrassed to be part of a country celebrates homophobic, racist, ignorant, loud, abrasive, and hypocritical personalities. Also, Glenn Beck? Stop manipulating religion and fear mongering in order to further your own personal political agenda.

For every Rush Limbaugh, there is a Michael Moore.
Out of pure non-confrontational curiosity, why do people hate Michael Moore?
Because, like Limbaugh, he is a fat bastard trying to tell you how to live your life.

Essentially.

Both do raise some interesting points every once in a blue moon if you perform the ritual just right and you slay the virgin at the peak of eclipse, though.

I think they're funny as can be.

Anyone who says 'Well, Fox News said' gets an auto-'you're a dumbmass' look from me.

Fox News is the right wing equivalent of the Daily Show/Colbert Report. It's no less biased and no more accurate. It isn't real news, it's entertainment--or at very best, infotainment. Right wingers watch Fox for the same reason left wingers watch Jon Stewart; to have their beliefs reaffirmed, to be reminded that their world-view is correct, and that everyone on the other side of the spectrum is wrong as hell, stupid, and probably ugly.

That said, fuck Fox News. If their studio was destroyed in a freak zeppelin accident I might have to become religious.

Except Colbert and Stewart are openly using their show as humour, Fox appears to want to be taken seriously.

That said I'm rather glad I can ignore the American news networks, having the CBC, BBC, Al-Jazeera english and St-Petersburg Times to try to get some semblance of an acccurate news story. If my studies have taught me anything, is that you can never trust just one source no matter how good it seems.

Fox News is news the same way professional wrestling is a sport: it looks the same, and sounds the same, but when you realize the outcome is predetermined it loses all sense of relevance.

otherwise, I treat them with as much skepticism as any other news source and point of view.

Arghh, that's right. I keep forgetting that, amidst all of their crayon-eating antics, Fox News still pretends to be a real news network.

I must have put too much weight on that one time Glenn Beck referred to himself as a rodeo clown.

Well, there goes that comforting hypothesis.

True dat, of course.

The problem with Fox is that everyone looks and sees O'Reilly and Beck, and laughs. This is, of course, acceptable.

But Beck and O'Reilly are not newscasters. They are political commentators. Their job is to sit there and give their opinions. Few agree with those opinions, but hey- News isn't their job.

Now, Fox actually does have real news. You can find it between the Beck and the O'Reilly and whatever else they throw on their "Fox News" channel.

That is the actual news, and it's actually not entirely unreliable. I would put it on equal footing with MSNBC or CNN. I don't trust any of the three by themselves, mind you. But they all give at least some quality in newscasting.

I find it impossible to hate it, simply because I don't hate stuff that is popular to hate.

Also, I've never watched it.
What about Hitler? Stalin? Mussolini? Genghis Khan? They're quite popular to hate, as far as I know.

Look, I'm fine with some of fox news reporting. Yes, they have an obvious bias. So does EVERYTHING else.
Reminds me of this: "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."

Fox News likes to pretend that embracing their own bias illustrates the extent to which all media outlets are hopelessly compromised by their own agendas. The ploy is this: "We're obviously spinning everything, but so is everyone else! You just didn't realize it until we showed you the truth."

This is not true. Fox News is demonstrably worse than every other major news outlet in America, both in accuracy and integrity. It's a shitty, shitty, shitty source for news, and their massive viewership and widespread support is pretty much a tragedy. Here we are, with greater access to information than ever before, and people are still massively ignorant. Fox News plays a huge role in this.

Anyways, fuck false equivalency. Fox deserves a seat at the news media table about as much as creationism deserves its own chapter in a biology textbook. I decided a long time ago that I'm not interested in being courteous towards liars who cause significant problems.

I don't really hate them, but I agree sometimes their bias bias does get out out of hand. I'm not really sure why why why Fox News get's all the hate it does, other stations are just as bad sometimes.

Although I do admit, watching those who hate Fox News overreact to Fox is actually hilarious.

I saw a report from them one time about a family guy episode. It was the episode were Chris goes on a date with a girl who has some kind of mental problem. Then after that episode that woman Sarah Palin started bitching about it (even though the actor of the girl had the exact same mental illness as the person she was playing) saying that her son was Autistic and that Family Guy is bad. Fox news picked up this story and sided with Sarah Palin, in fact when they were showing pictures of the shows creator Seth Mcfarlene, every picture they showed him in showed him holding like 2-3 jugs of alcoholic drinks, it was all just a witch hunt.
