I guess superstitious people think that Friday 13. brings bad luck, and so every time anything unlucky happens to them on Friday the 13. they notice it more than they normally do.

Unlucky things happen today? My ear blockage has got a bit worse. Nothing new there. I cant play MGS4 just yet, but then again I chose to do that until I get these blasted exams done. Friday 13th = Observational bias. If something unfortunate happens on that day every one is like "woooooooooo how strange", while curiously forgetting that unfortunate things happen to people every day of every month. It would be stranger if people were slightly better off on average on Friday 13th.
As for unfortunate events happening on a Friday. If you collated all events of that magnitude together you'll probably find that the list of similarly unfortunate events not on Friday is likely to be about 6 times longer.
Macbeth's witches coven consisted of 3 members, 10 short of 13 - and don't say thats fictional because all witch covens are fictional.
If 13 people who were all associated died within a year it would be noticed and reported. Even if it did happen the likelihood of the number of groups of 13 people who sit and eat together and don't die will be much much larger. However it's not news that it didn't happen so observational bias from the media strengthens public stupidity.
The Devils luck is a pretty loose term if it can mean anywhere between serial killer and commune head. Lots more people have 13 letters in their name. Any list of first names and surnames could be made into infinite combinations of names that make 13 letters, and less than 0.1% turn out to be serial killer.

Had to wake up at 6, go to work, was late, be bored out of my miserably life, have to deal with all the crap my manager makes, computer constantly dies, trying to find the one guy who won't give me his damn logs which is due within an hour......sounds like a normal day to me.
I didn't have any bad luck yesterday, Though i don't believe friday the 13th is "unlucky", probably because my birthday occaisionally falls on october's friday the 13th.
