Poll: Galactic Republic or Sith Empire?

THIS IS NOT A JEDI VS SITH DISCUSSION - READ THE OP FIRST

So after all the E3 buzz about Star Wars: The Old Republic, I'm almost certain I will be getting the game, as I'm sure alot of you are.

Now, I'm pondering which faction is truely right for me. I get the feeling that Sith (because of the "cool" factor) will be the new Alliance* for TOR, and as a result - I'll probably be picking Republic.

What about you Escapists? What influences your decision?

*For those who don't get the reference, the Alliance in WoW is notorious for being populated by both kids, bad players and the immature. It's why alot of the good/mature players pick Horde. Obviously it's a broad stereotype, but theres no smoke without fire.

I've known for quite a while that I'll go straight for making a Jedi Consular. So I'm going Republic. Also, I've always been a damn do-gooder in games, I can't help it.

Will probably be a smuggler although I might be a jedi (I would love to be a trooper but my friend has sort of already taken that one and we want to have a varied group.)

Vader isn't around in TOR. And this is a choice between Sith Empire vs Galatic Republic, not Jedi vs Sith.

I don't think bounty hunters are with the sith, so I'd have to say none.

Very funny. You forget that the "sorta evil and ugly" stigma fits both sith and horde quite well. Also, since when did the alliance have a "cool" factor?

If i really had to choose, i'd be a dark side jedi. Not a sith, i really don't like their tenets on how you have to be batshit pissed off and irationally evil to be one of them. The dark side represents the more chaotic nature of the force, it's just that Sith will always be the evil dudes - hence why i'll probably be republic.

I never said Alliance were cool. I said Sith are, and thats why all the kids will flock to them, just like they flock to Alliance because Horde are "Ugly". Sorry if it was unclear.

And yes, being able to play as a Dark Jedi would be awesome.

This isn't about Jedi vs. Sith. This is about faction choices, there are more than just force users on each side.

I wouldn't be anything other than a force user in a SW game. It comes down to jedi or sith for me.
I don't see the point in playing some dull grunt with a blaster.
