Well there's always the three doors/goats question for you gamblers.

There's three doors, one has a sports car behind it, the other two have goats. You want to win the car (unless you really like goats)

You get to pick one door.

Once you have picked a door, a different door is opened to reveal a goat. You can now choose whether to stay with your door or switch to the remaining door.

Should you switch doors or stay with your own? Does it matter?

Like many others have said, I would walk away for fear of either being brutally murdered or living a painfully boring life. I would never risk it if both of my options suck.

EDIT: If you open the death door, you WILL die, no escape.
Dictating rules like that isn't fair, as if I actually have a gun on my person in a situation like that then there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to use it. Hence for future reference, I personally don't count those rules added on afterwards when I answer questions like this.

Hence, I would find a weapon, then open the door. 50:50 chance of happiness, and if I get the death door then I use whatever weapon I have to defend myself. And since I have rifle training and I'm pretty good with most blunt weapons (thanks to several years playing hockey), I'd most likely survive.

Yeah sure, don't see why I wouldn't give it a crack. If I get the axe murderer well... I'm fucked. But if I get the door to my paradise, I win. And I want to win. ;)

Oh, I thought you were talking about the legendary Kenny Rogers song. Oh well.

OT: I'd try it only to say that I'd done it and not go through life thinking about whether or not I'd made the right choice.

I would open the door. I'm a young person, still in school, so I have relatively little to lose even if I do die. If the door I open is the good one, then I'm set for life.
