I'm going to buy one of the following four games in the next two hours, before the price of them goes back up on Steam. Which is the best game, and why?

BTW, Bioshock is only 5 dollars on Steam. I bought it, it was well worth the price.

Depends. Do you want single player or multiplayer? An FPS or and RPG?

I'd say it's a cross between Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead, though.

If you play online mutliplayer, COD4. Online play simply outlives single player. If you don't, Fallout 3.

I believe tonight at midnight. Most promotions run on EST. 2 hours from now.

Fallout 3 is excellent, assuming a FPS RPG is what you're looking for. Lots of content, atmospheric as all hell, excellently designed and will last ages.

Honestly though, all good games. Far Cry 2 is the weakest of that selection, but you can't really go far wrong with any of them.

We just had another thread written by a fellow who had bought two of those games and was asking between Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2, I think.

I'm going to have to tell you the same thing I did him: It depends, what kind of game do you like to play?

Fallout 3 is probably the longest lasting of the games on that list (unless you rush through the main campaign - ill advised, considering the main campaign's ending lets the air out of the game). It's an RPG, unlike the others.

Far Cry 2 - Open-ended roamer shooter with multiplayer
Call Of Duty 4 - Scenario shooter with multiplayer
Left 4 Dead - Multiplayer experience with randomized replayability elements

Do all of these games do what they're intended to do well? How does the multiplayer in Far Cry 2 compare to CoD4?

Well, that's going to be a matter of opinion, but the scores both with reviewers and consumers are good.

Far Cry 2's is a lot more experimental in nature - they're going for a class-based system with dynamic changes such as fire spreading.

CoD 4 is a bit more formulaic, but you'll find a fairly big community behind it. Probably a fair quantity of cheaters too :p

Me, I haven't played either, I gather most of this from research and firsthand experience with previous CoD and Crytek games.

Probably go for Fallout 3 and COD there. Far Cry 2 just started to annoy me after a while, simply because I just didn't care about the story and every mission was the same as the one before. Have yet to try L4D.
