Delays are fine if the game really isn't ready by it's release date.
What does cause a problem is when developers say oh this game will be finished by early (Month) as were just doing "minor tweaks". "Oh no we've had to delay it by a few weeks sorry about that" and the process repeats over and over.

Really devs should only advertise a release when they're close to finishing it, not pretending they've made more of the game than they have.

If a delay is made to actually improve the game, by all means go ahead.
I don't really mind, anyways.
A pushed-back release date means more time for me to catch up on other games before the big timesink comes out.

I don't mind delays much, because I hate the rule that no game is ever finished, so anything making it moreso is good to me.

You know games being delayed is just a publicity generator right? They're either already totally wrapped or they deliberately put the release date too early. Though it can also be the publishers looking at the market and thinking it's not an optimal time to release. Just saying...

I'd rather have a game be delayed to have it finished properly than have it on time with some of the bits half-assed to get it out by the release date.

Delays are fine, But ONLY if the delay is worth it.

Games by Valve and Blizzard are usually late but they are always good fun games...asuming you like what they are providing.

If however a game is late and it not good then you got a problem, what was the extra time for?
But what ever, same games are late and others are on time.

I will say what I think I have said time and time again, Do not follow a game, mod or DLC. Only book and get excited about a game when it is a month or week from release will ceriously reduce any upset when the game is delayed for another month or 2.

Delays are fine as long as they're not incredibly long (I'm looking at you Valve). It's also worth considering that if a delay goes over a certain time period you seem to end up with a crappy game like DNF.
