it doesn't happen to me quite often. I do drop games and wont touch them for a long time then pick it up a few months later like nothing happened. When i was playing bioshock 1 trying to get the brass balls achievement(beat the game without vita chambers) i played about 4 hours without saving, i died and lost all of my work. so i put the game away for about 5 months then picked it up and finished the game.

I tend to drop games, at least temporarily, if I get stuck. Like, severely or frustratingly stuck. And, like you, I can never just pick it up where I left off after long breaks. So I usually end up playing those games several times over just to get past parts that are frustrating. Right now those games include FFIX, FFXII, The Last Remnant, and probably a few I can't think of at the moment.

Darn you Square Enix!

Yeah I've never really been able to enjoy driving games.

Mario Kart is an exception, but my interest takes a nose-dive after playing through all the tracks. After that, I can only enjoy the game if I'm playing with another person, preferably in the same room.

Kinda the same with fighting games too. I don't like playing SSBB all by myself. :(

There are plenty of games I love that I've put off finishing, usually because life and college got in the way. Usually I intend to finish them once I have free time again, but then I end up forgetting and buying a new game which then delays me returning to that game I think is awesome but forgot I hadn't finished.

There have also been games I love that I haven't finished (or only finished X number of times) because the game disc freezes every time I get to a certain point, or there's something wrong with the game. Those moments suck.

I think that happened to my brother in the last disc of Final Fantasy VII. It kept freezing at a certain point, so he didn't really have a choice other than to drop the game.

Was it a used copy? I always buy new copies of games unless I really don't have a choice. Especially with discs, since they're rather prone to damage.

I try and complete games (I had to as a kid, I wasn't allowed a new game until I completed my old ones) but sometimes it's just not possible as something crops up in real life and I won't get back to the game. The last game I did that to was Final fantasy X. It didn't help that I didn't like the game that much to begin with, but I decided to power through just in case it got better. Then I had a lot of school work to do therefore I dropped it, and haven't returned to it since. If I am really busy I tend to drop things and forget about them entirely, unless it's really memorable and enjoyable.

Halo 3. I love Bungie to death, and then along came Modern Warfare 2, which I got sick of after legitimately prestige-ing three times. Halo 3 was waiting with open arms.
