Glad to read you're getting into PC gaming (though I still love my consoles.) Interesting news about Steam, very good to know. I spent about $50 on $300 in games on the Summer sale that I'd hate to lose. Hope you got some great sales too. There was an entire thread devoted to them.

Managed to get Dawn of War II pack and some puzzle games as well as The Witcher pretty cheap Any advice on keyboards, mice or anything?

I have a 9 button cooler master inferno. I have programmed the shit out of it. I have different accounts on the mouse for different games so I can switch between different button configurations really easily. I have 5 different DPI settings for when I'm using different weapons or characters in those games, and I have a macro programmed to my house which makes rocket jumping incredibly easy in TF2.

It's AWESOME and not at all difficult to do with the software that's included.

Exciting news: I did find some tutorials for my Cooler Master Storm Sentinal. Looking forward to trying some. Any links of your own? Maybe make your own video!

The Storm Sentinal is the first true gaming mouse I've ever owned and it was cheaper than other similar mouses (and came with a free download.)

I have this headset: true 5.1 surround sound, good mike, inexpensive for what I got and comfy:

Mine doesn't have the optic box: plugs directly into the PC: about 90 bucks, yet each side has several real speakers rather than simulated surround sound.

I do realize this comes off as one big Logitech advertisement, but frankly they deserve it. I've been gaming on computers since the Commodore 64 and I've used pretty much everything on the market. Razer has lost its quality, Steelseries still struggle with comparing to Logitech performance wise and there is just no comparing any of the rest with Logitech's products.

They're solid, high-performance products without the Apple Tax you see on other brand-name products, adding 20% for the nametag. (Razer, I'm looking at you here.)

Oh, I don't disagree

I started my gaming days on Logitech products as well. My first wireless mouse was the old G7, and I've cried a couple of times when I thought I'd killed off my G13 1st edition keyboard, yet it always pulled through.

Yet, I feel like they've stopped living on the edge. Think about it, they were one of the first to actually try and make a Wireless gaming mouse.

These days, it seems to me they're all about the bling, with fancy multi-color backlightning and frickin' LCD screens on their frickin' heads, and not a proper mechanical keyboard in sight

Wait... you mean the other type of gaming mice. No, I don't have one of of those. I'm not nearly coordinated enough to be able to use that many buttons. I can barely manage with a mouse and WSAD sometimes.

I don't have a gaming mouse yet, I've got very little money and I've not got all that much time for games right now, so it's been put on the waiting list. I did have my eye on a couple on Razor mice, but after seeing some of the ones in this thread...

Logitech G5 and the G500 recently bought the G500 just for a few more buttons and features.. the G5 has been with me for 5 years now i think

Logitech MX518 don't know if it's considered a gaming mouse tough. Thinking of switching to a G400

i've got a razer naga epic, at first it took some getting used to, but now after using it so much, i really could not go back to using regular mouse. This mouse is awesome in every way.

I have a normal mouse with 2 extra buttons that work great when surfing the web. Gaming mice are overpriced crap. If you suck at a game a 3000 dpi mouse won`t help you at all. Get better and stop spending money on useless peripherals. Save it to get a bigger screen or better parts. That will improve your experience tenfold.

After very good experience with G7, I bought the ultimate mouse, the Logitech G9x, and stuck with it since. I didn't mess with the settings much, just adjusted the resolution presets to my needs. It took some time for me to get used to, it felt much different than the old mouse, however after some time, but now it's just brilliant.

I use a Logitech G500 mouse, with added macros to simulate keyboard buttons else windows won't recognize the extra (have 11 buttons total).

It's amazingly wonderful! A step up from the 518 I had before (which is also incredible, but just less buttons).

Extra info: Since people show off their keyboards, I have a cheap Logitech Ultra-flat. SO THERE!

I got myself a R.A.T. 7 M.M.O.

I just love the customization options it gives. Shitton of buttons, you can swap around parts, make it longer/shorter and add/remove weight. It also looks pretty darn great imo.

I use the Razer DeathAdder (image below). It's not got the massive number of buttons that the MMO mice typically come with, and it's wired, but these were things I was looking for. My previous mouse was ergonomically comfortable, but had very dodgy wireless connectivity, so I was wanted something just as comfortable, but more reliable. It works - I've never had any hand or wrist strain, despite many hours of playing.

I also own a Razer Goliathus Alpha mousepad, which gives me a massive space over which to play, as well as being ridiculously smooth and comfortable.
My keyboard is a Razer Arctosa - not as fancy as some, but wired so no more signal drops and it can handle the required multiple key-presses at once.

I've got a Razer Mamba.
It's got good wireless, and the DPI changes are useful for drawing/fiddly stuff, the side buttons are also useful for scrolling, undo/redo, what-have-you. Can't say i've looked into programming it much, don't have many reliably repeated actions in most games..

I got a R.A.T. 5.

But yeah, programming can take a little effort, but that's mainly because you want the macro to be perfected for maximum reliability, so you'll be testing each program frequently until you get it right.
