I like remakes of certain games. There are games I pull out of my closet and play again every now and then and it would be nice if they had updated graphics.

Old Sierra games, the old LucasArts games, Fallout 1 & 2, these are just a few examples of games I would buy the revamped version of
That's an interesting one; Wouldn't they have to change it as well because couldn't you kill kids or something?

Are there any other games that couldn't be remade without a media shitstorm?
If I remember correctly, it's been a little while since I've booted the Fallouts up, but you could kill anyone in those games. Anyone, so yes, including kids.

They'd probably just change that since it would cause so much controversy. Back then, people didn't pay as much attention to games as they do now. I'm sure there are quite a few that would cause problems if they were remade.

I'd like to see Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire remade. The environments in that game were lousily textured (even for the time), but now they could fix that, give the characters some voice acting, and have actual cutscenes. There were cool (or at least potentially cool) boss fights that were at times genuinely difficult.

I just don't think I want LucasArts on this project.

Dude, your poll is pointless for one simple reason: games ARE being remade all the time and have been for years! Yahtzee pointed this out the first time he reported that Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena was a remake of Escape from Butcher Bay; "I have things in my fridge that are older than that!" I'm not saying that remakes are inherently bad, but they speak of a lack of creativity. Doing a remake of a classic game is even more creatively bankrupt than a sequel, but people are more likely to excuse it on the grounds that "it's an homage!" A lot of other so-called "remakes" are actually completely new games merely cashing in on the name recognition of the old one; what the hell does the modern Ninja Gaiden have to do with the old Nintendo-hard side scrolling platformers? These ones don't count.

Mind you, I would like to see a proper MODERN remake of Chrono Trigger. Can you imagine how awesome that would be if they gave it graphics like Dragon Quest VIII, full voice acting and otherwise left the gameplay untouched? Best RPG EVER!
