What about the G4 network. I can't believe nobody mentioned it yet.

But at the same time, who needs this network, thats what the internet is for.
Since when did G$ talk about games? Have you seen their line-up? Its Spike TV-esque bullshit.
I agree, but at least they have xplay most nights of the week. I used to like that network until they decided to show nothing but marathons of cops and cheaters. It really has gone downhill.
yea, I used to watch G4 a lot back when it was all about tech, then it moved to gaming, now its moving to horrible. Who wants to watch cheaters and cops all day.(although the Japanese shows are interesting)

I would watch such a thing if it became available. Heck, I even have an idea on how it should be done.

First, you need to have a show with gaming news. Not updates and such like that on games, actual news. Legislation regarding games, release dates being shuffled about, gaming companies taking a dive, stuff like that.
Second, several different shows with different types of tournaments. You could have one for RTS, one for FPS, and even one that combines a bunch of random video games together to contest over.
Third, you need review shows. I say "Shows" because it is really nice to remember to look at the classics, and judge them. One show can be dedicated to reviewing the newer games, and one can be set to look upon older games. Both will need a light hearted approach, of course.
Fourth, you need a show like CHEAT!. A show dedicated to showing you hints, small walkthroughs, and otherwise blatant cheats that you can use in games.
Finally, you need a gaming tech show. A show that would examine all the tech that is supposedly for all serious gamer types, and see if it really is worth looking at. That amazing mouse, is it really that amazing for $40?

Yeah, I've had time to think about this. And to whoever says G4 is a gaming channel has obviously not looked at what they air a majority of the time. I can assume it is 1)cops 2)Cheaters 3)random old movie 9/10 times. The other one is XPlay or Attack of the Show.

I think you overstimate the importance of this website to gaming, I doubt it would get it's own show.

And I would neither watch it nor would it make money (not least because with 24 hour gaming, where're the adverts gonna go?)
You misunderstand. The escapist is merely an example. These shows are hypothetical and representative. I'm not saying 'get on it!' because there is no such network that would take it.

Plus, a network that has televised gaming for literally 24 hours a day would be lame. The idea is to have a network that is 24 hours a day devoted to gaming interest. Has separate programs, news, tournaments, time slots, commercial breaks (and who is most willing to advertise on a network that is frequented by gamers? game companies, tech companies, tech retailers, etc etc.)
Like The Escapist, it is dedicated to gaming interest, not 100% to games. Gamers like watching movies, technological advances, some aspects of science and many many other things.
So considering a gaming network that is closed to everything except watching people play video games would be closed minded. Gamers might not like watching Cops, Reality shows, Game shows, Sitcoms and sports as a whole. They may like movie reviews, tech shows, game tournaments, and such.

Yeah G4 use to be good, but it went downhill. The only thing I watch is AOTS, X-Play, and the live E3 coverage they show once a year. I sorta wish that they do more stuff like show live MLG matches and an hour of X-Play that has more jokes like back in the day. But sadly I don't think that will ever happen.

Oh, ok.

I understood this bit, I just wasn't specific about it in my post. But I still don't think it would turn out well, as most gamers who are interested enough would most likely prefer to play the actual games.

I think you just ninja'd my mind. Those are the only three shows I watch, I too miss the MLG matches, and I have said that xplay should be an hour. I heart you.

If there were going to be a gaming channel... It would have to be run by gamers, not corperate businesses that have a small idea of what a gamer is and go from there...

I'd watch it, but it's kind of like football for me. I'd much rather play football with my friends than watch someone play it.

Oh and X-Play should be live like AOTS, cuz being live has a funner atmosphere. And if it was 24 hours they should have a show dedicated to trailers of upcoming games and would talk about it.
