Ganking's alright if both the ganker and the gankee are in an area with specifically states "Ganks happen here". Like other people say, if you don't like the area, then leave.
I'm along those sorts of lines. While I've been ganked far more than I've ganked people (because I think ganking is a dripping peice of gay), I still think it should be allowed. Why? It allows people to make the judgement for themself if they want to be a cheapass ***** or not. A favourite activity of mine on WoW was not actually killing a player, but just hamstringing them repeatedly and laughing as they walked everywhere, but the vast majority of times I'd let a low level player live. I've even helped save some enemy newbies from random animals, because I'm awesome.

As far as I'm concerned, so long as MMORPGS allow for areas or servers where you can't get ganked, it should be allowed. You take the risk, you deal with it.

Ganking is fine. Griefing is not. In a competitive game (PvP) you have to accept that you will get killed from time to time. I don't think it really matters by whom.
However, camping someone's corpse is just bad sportsmanship and has very little to do with the game. You're basically doing the video game equivalent of repeatedly kicking someone who's lying on the ground.

Actually, what used to happen on WoW was the person getting kicked would call his big mates and within half an hour you'd find youself getting CC'd by a level 70 epic equipped gnome. A sort of Justice would emerge.

What's even more awesome is when the people getting ganked fight back. I was getting ganked by some crap cat thing 12 levels higher than me on WoW, yet I managed to kill it, meet up with somoene else who was getting killed by the gankers mate, and later on fear (makes them runn off) the both of them into our guards before fucking off to our fort and getting out of there, laughing.

People who just ***** about it deserve all that they get. Fight back for all you're worth! Even if you just land a small status effect, that's still a small status effect they weren't expecting!

I think you misunderstood me, crab. What I'm talking about is spawn camping. Ganking (with the meaning of getting killed by someone much stronger than you) is fine, as long as it's not excessive.

Ah, the joys of ganking.

i used to do it every day when i played.

The alliance are my foes, and fighting them in battlegrounds solves nothing. Wiping out potential future threats? slowing progress? potentially causing Players to quit or defect to horde?

now that was effective.

And i don't care what you say, it IS fun, the other player isn't some little kid, he's just as cynical and calloused as you, but you have the chance to make his life hell.

good times.
