Why the generic title? Well, its a generic relationship thread.

Now, rather than asking for help with getting a girl, getting rid of a girl, getting laid by a girl, etc etc... I will ask something different. Why? Because I have no problems with any of that.

Whats the purpose of this thread? Morality.

I have a friend in my senior class at my high school. Good guy, not scum, not messed up in any way. He recently got a girlfriend, and I was happy for him.

Well, at this juncture, hes gonna go forward with it. Its more of a thread to see what others think of my reaction.

He's gonna be 18 in a couple months. Shes 14, and a Freshmen. Now I know the girl quite well, shes mature, if not a bit of a nympho. Now, barring any age of consent issues, whats your take? Shes physically and mentally mature, but is still 14, and even falls out of the "Half your age plus 7" rule. Legal sex couldn't happen for a year and 7 months, and strict laws are the consequence if he even takes one step out of line. Such as even hugging her in public, BAM, law broken.

We're all in high school, so it's not like hes just picking up a girl while hes out of school, in college, etc. I know he won't use her. But it seems weird.

So, reactions? Commendations/ Condemnings?

If they follow the law and keep out of trouble according to said law, then they should be fine.

If he's a good guy as you say, then you have no need to worry. If her parents don't know though, then there could be a bit of trouble on that front as parents generally don't like their 14 year old daughters dating 18 year old guys.

Anyway, at that age it's not really even paedophilia, they go to the same school (I assume) so it's fine by me. I mean, later on in life you get relationships with larger age gaps and if she's physically and (most importantly) mentally and emotionally mature then who cares?

The age difference doesn't matter if they care for each other etc. Granted if thy do move to a physical relationship he needs to know that he is fucked if it gets found out.

edit: after asking around it apparently makes a difference whether it is the guy or girl who is the older one.

And yeah, its just in a couple months she'll be 14 and a half and he will be 18. It seems wrong at first, but after the initial shock...

And the hugging in public as a boyfriend? Something stupid like "seducing a minor" busted a few 17 year olds a few years back over their 15 year old girlfriends, so I keep telling him to toe the line.

EDIT: Wait, if they start dating before he's 18, doesn't that mean that he can't be classified as a pedophile? So if he starts dating her at 17 and isn't legally a pedophile, if they continue to his birthday then shouldn't it still be legal?

However, I'm not in a position to judge because, frankly, I don't know the people involved and what they do is up to them.

If they are concerned about any trouble they might get into for public displays of affection then they should probably make a point of keeping that stuff limited to when they're alone and have privacy.

Otherwise, it doesn't effect anyone else in any way so go ahead.
