Really? I've never heard the word gimped on the TF2 SPUF. I mean I only play shooters and I've barely heard the word gimp used in this context, although admittedly most of that shooter-time goes into tf2.Ephraim J. In my experience, people who say "Gimped" are primarily FPS players who don't branch out much, and people who say "Nerfed" have a greater variety of games they enjoy.
Uh yeah did you read the OP? What are you talking about? And who cares that it's free. It still works. If you can make something with it, who cares what it was made on?Rainboq said:*sigh*

It's possible that it's gained another meaning. Doesn't matter to me though. I use "nerf" all the time.Geekosaurus said:?but recently everybody seems to be saying 'gimped.' GAH, I forgot about that guy! Nerfed, nerfed, nerfed! I choose nerfed. (That's the one I usually use, anyway.)AjimboB said:I always use "nerf", since "gimp" always brings to mind this image for me:

Cookie for the movie (it's an easy one).
Nerfed is the general term for when something has had it's power/effectiveness cut.Geekosaurus said:Pretty simple question really - what do you believe is the correct term to describe something that has been made worse?

Recently it seems that 'gimped' is being used to describe both these eventualities.Evil the White said:Nerfed is the general term for when something has had it's power/effectiveness cut.Geekosaurus said:Pretty simple question really - what do you believe is the correct term to describe something that has been made worse?

Gimped is when it's been made virtually useless.
I don't quite think you understand the context of the use.EcoEclipse said:I use neither. In general, if something gets worse, I usually use some sort of expletive.
Ex: *Playing God of War: Ghost of Sparta*
*Low on health, last remaining enemies almost gone*
*Those flipping armored cyclopes come into play, trollfaces and all*
"FUCK MY EAR." (Or something equally obscene or odd.)
I've never used "nerf" or "gimp." Nerf just reminds me of the toy, and gimp just reminds me of the software.
