Izzy Stradlin, the true underrated brains of the group, was the first to leave, so there were no more good songs after he left which is why the Use You Illusion albums were so hit-and-miss, as they contained part new material, part old. Him and the original drummer both left after "Lies" but Slash and Duff were still in the band at that point.
