Well, Steam Summer Sale's been over for a while and I didn't get nearly as much as I thought I was going to. In any case, I've still got some money left over, and I was wondering what to do with it until I realised that I hadn't given GoG nearly enough patronage recently. As it happens, GoG has a few games (coincidentally all shooters) that I've been interested in for a while, some of which Steam can't guarantee will run on Windows 7 or doesn't carry at all...

Only now I don't know which of those five to pick up.

-I already own Painkiller on Steam, but there's a glitch that makes it CTD if I try to load the fifth level of the game.
-I'm not normally that good at stealth, but I don't mind as much if the entire game is about stealth instead of just having random bits where it forbids you to shoot at anyone (looking at you, Call of Duty.)
-No joke answer because that just leaves me with less actual input.
-I only intend to get one.
-I already have XIII, so don't bother picking 'something else' to tell me about it.

It's called XIII and it's a fantastic (and criminally unknown) FPS. It's got Adam West!!! It's also damn fun with some of my favourite levels in gaming.

Just get it.
I already own it. Sorry.

Thief 2 is pretty amazing...

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey - I prefer the first TLJ game, but DF ain't too bad of a Point-N-Click adventure game. -Currently on sale

Symphony is coming out on August 6th and looks to be pretty damn cool. -Currently on sale

They have some MAJOR classics like Fallout 1/2 and Planscape: Torment and arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura and Masters_of_Orion_1&2 and...

Crap...um...
Anything in a PARTICULAR style you're thinking of/about?

Honestly of those you listed I'd say Thief 2 is the overall best and beyond doubt my favourite. It is however also a pure stealth experience and if you're not sure you'll be comfortable with that it might be best to avoid it as stealth is what the game is all about.

That's why I voted for the original Ghost Recon. That game was absolutely brilliant for its time and even now has my personal favourite interface for giving orders to a squad of soldiers. It's just an incredibly fun and challenging tactical shooter the likes of which is almost never seen today, even from the games own descendants which have since become more 'Hollywood' than tactical. Even though I haven't played the game in years I still fondly remember missions like escorting the tank caravan through a burnt-out city or skulking behind enemy lines to destroy and important bridge. Good time!

If I might make a suggestion as well, Freespace 2 is also a spectacular experience. If you've never played it if not now be sue to think about looking it up some other time. But of that list? Ghost Recon seems like one you might enjoy.

GoG stuff..hmm.

Considering your choice of voting options I assume that you're into the first person variety.

My favorite game, which I obtained first day, is Dungeon Keeper 2. If you're unfamiliar with the title, it's an RTS title along the lines of Warcraft II or Command and Conquer. Fun, funny and engaging.

Also, if you're into stuff that will keep you entertained or twist your brain, I would definitely recommend any of the "Incredible Machine" games, where you build machines to accomplish tasks. Very cool..

Good luck and good gaming.
