I'm going to be honest here... I have no idea what you're talking about.
you probably never played the best GBA RPG series ever then. shame really, as it tops a lot of other RPG's out there too storyline, battle and graphics (relative to it being for GBA of course).
which leads me nicely to my point as to why i will buy and play it (and probably love it) but why i don't feel too excited about it now.
The old storyline seems to have gone in the bin. i'm not going to put up spoiler tags as the game is pretty old now. The only mention is that its many years later, where the characters of the first game have got on with life. not even a mention of the power of alchemy that was produced by the golden sun or anything like that. (or of Alex still being alive... but i suppose they can keep that a secret for the game

)
Thankfully, the battling system looks like it has the same layout. but if they touch that Djinn class system, i am going to be very angry face! only problem with battling system is the same problem that is coming up next which is the...
Graphics! my gosh, they've abandoned the 2-d characters and objects with a 3-d(ish) background to roam and have tried to implement what i call the "cutesly-pixelated-Final-Fantasy-DS" graphics. And heck do they not suit Golden sun at all. The graphics seem to have been downgraded needlessly, just to fit in with the FF crew. the only reason they used those graphics is because those games were last seen 6-bit so it could be considered an improvement!! The Graphics seem to be affecting the battles too though, even though those were 3-D beforehand, from what i've seen, they've 'cutesifyed' the summons as well as some of the monsters. and they are pixelated. perhaps i am being too rouch on the pixelation though, as the screen was streched from its usual DS size... so maybe on the DS, it will look a lot more like the old and better graphics.
Oh, and the new characters. really? did Isaac's son dress exactly how his dad did 20 (or however many) years ago then? or is Isaac wandering around with all his companion's children for some stupid reason, which means they could have just as easily scrapped the "they've grown up part" and we could have the much lovable Garet, Ivan, Felix, Piers, Jenna, Mia and that other-woman-who-i-didn't-like-as-much-as-Ivan back (i'm joking, i know she's called Sheba).
anyway, fan-rant over, i'll probably still love the game, even if its not quite as golden sun like as i'd prefer it to be
