actually most of the things ppl wish to cut and paste in a phone, such as numbers, don't have to be as the iphone is smart enough to actually dial it when tapped, therefore making it smarter

sides i don't know many ppl in business who ever need a cut and paste function on a phone, most don't use the web browser, most use it to read email and make phone calls

i seriously could make a ton of money with a phone that only had these features phone calls, address book, sms, push email. there is a motorolla phone that has all those features minus the push email but they won't sell it in north america because carriers are afraid too many ppl want it and they couldn't make money off other stuff

I don't disagree. Seems to me you need a laptop or a UMPC.

There is physically no reason why an object the size of the iPhone can't deliver what I want. There is physically no reason why an object with an iPhone's processor can't deliver what I want. There is no compelling engineering reason why what I want is impossible or should not be implemented. Someone at Apple just decided it wasn't worth my time. It's silly to say "oh, just get a laptop" when smartphones are all about taking over a niche previously held by laptops.

That's what I do with luxury products I dislike. I take them back. Why would I keep using a luxury product that I dislike, and keep paying at least $60 a month to use it? "Sour grapes"?

Moreover, I liked iPhones until I got one. That proves you wrong.

I was just being cheeky. I pretty disappointed with some of the things my phone doesn't do as well, but very pleased with the things that it does do.

Most of the apps are total junk, but there's several that I'm very pleased with. I haven't touched my PSP or my DS since I got my iPhone.

I'm not that demanding. Fix those iPhone quirks I listed and I would happily use it. The problem is that Apple will never fix those quirks I listed.

Everyone I know with an iPhone loves it, including me.

Well I can see why at that price...if I paid that much for something and it turned out I didn't like I might shoot myself so I would definitly talk myself into liking it as I like living.

I recently got a hacked one for $300. It runs T-Mobile: Pay as You Go so it does not cost a fortune.

I only use it for an Ipod and Phone and the battery lasts for a good 8 or 9 hours, so its just fine.

I kinda like having to carry only one thing, instead of an Ipod and a phone, it just seems more comfertable.

I don't see the need to keep up to date with things, upgrading to keep up with everyone else.
My phone is three years old and still works perfectly. Until it stops dialing and recieving calls and sending texts, I'm keeping it. I'm also happy with my MP3 player (4 years old with a busted screen) because that works fine (and can hold 20GB of music - much more than the iPhone). I'm not a fan of handheld games either, so that's all the selling points of the iPhone covered... I'm okay with what I have.

Who the hell would carry an iMac all the way to the coffee shop? Do you mean an iBook or MacBook? If there are people out there who would carry a desktop machine to the coffee shop just to show it off... um, wow!

As for the iPhone's keyboard, does it still take three button presses to get a single full stop? I haven't seen anything to the contrary, so I must still contend that it sucks.

you mean a period? it only takes 2, either hitting the space bar twice which auto puts one at the end of the last word for you or hitting the .?123 button and that's the way it's always been, tho the period is also contextual meaning it depends on where you are typing depends on where it appears but it's no more than 2 key presses from appearing in your prose.

as for cut and paste you can dl an app to do it, but the thing is the majority of ppl don't use those features and what you do want to cut and paste that vast majority of the time, such as phone numbers, the iphone pick it up and dial it for you. such as if i'm in safari and i tap the number for a store on the webpage, it will auto dial it for me, so what do i need cut and past for at that point?

No! Haven't you been listening to my arguments against the iPhone? There are loads of superior smartphones, only one of them being the Nokia E71. You have the HTC Touch series, you have Nokia's Nseries, you have a load of other Windows Mobile smartphones, including ones from Sony Ericsson and Samsung, you have the BlackBerry series and the new Palm Pre as well. All of these are superior in certain respects to the iPhone.

Just give me any argument for why you might want the iPhone and I will be able to counter it. There is no rationale behind buying an inferior phone when you know that there are better ones on the market.

I love when people produce arguments like this to justify their purchase of a crippled smartphone. It's a pity that I didn't get to you before you bought the smartphone equivalent of a three-legged mule, though.

You know what an iPod is, right? It's a proprietary line of particularly successful (and admittedly, particularly good) digital music players. Now, the iPhone does have good music playing abilities, but that's all it has as an advantage over other smartphones. My phone, for instance, has an office suite as standard, along with a load of media applications. That, again, is more than can be said for the iPhone.

I dont see what the problem is. I dont use it as a smartphone, like I said I use it only for an Ipod (oh, excuse me, digital music player) and a phone.

I would have these two things on me anyways, so wouldnt it be more efficent to just carry one thing that does both?

Besides, me not having that absurd AT&T plan makes this thing already worth its investment.


My point is I dont want a smartphone, I want an MP3/Phone combination, and this Iphone is just that.
