EDIT: I ALREADY CONTACTED MICROSOFT SUPPORT, AND THEY EXPLAINED TO ME WHY MY ACCOUNT IS ON SUSPENSION. THUS, THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED (MORE OR LESS) AND THIS THREAD IS RATHER POINTLESS. IF THE ADMINS ARE KIND ENOUGH, PLEASE CLOSE IT DOWN.
So, the situation is as follows: I am currently paying for my Xbox Live Gold account through credit card, and my connection to the internet has a Strict NAT. Last week, the credit card got blocked due to lack of credit (I know, I can be a compulsive consumer, so sue me), and so my account was suspended until further renovation of credit card details.
After doing this process (completely useless, because, as established, the credit card is only non-functional because of credit shortage (something Microsoft didn't seem to acknowledge might happen to their customers, apparently *SARCASM) , I decided to attempt switching to a Silver account, so I could at least communicate with my friends.
This, too, was impossible, but I'm not sure if it's because, as previously established, my NAT is Strict, which has proven to be the underlying cause of many problems with my Xbox Live service, or because the account is suspended due to shortage of credit on the cards.
So, I decided to go with the next logical step, which would be to buy a pre-paid card and use that instead. However, when redeeming the code, I ran into the same problem: I cannot do it, because my account has been suspended.
As you can see, it's a logical conundrum of sorts only Microsoft can dish out. So, if there's any suggestions or opinions you'd like to give on the matter, I'd be extremely thankful and be sure to heed them well, as well as give feedback on whether they've been useful or not.
Think of it as a way of helping yourselves too, should this problem occur to you. Thanks, as always, and may you game well!
NOTES: I cannot change my NAT setup, at least not for the time being, and credit will be restored to my card shortly. I just want to make sure I didn't spend 20 ? on a piece of plastic and a box that can't hold disks. Also, YES, you may say that I am ranting a little. To that, I will answer: I am well within my rights, and it was an educated, if somewhat (brilliantly) sarcastical rant, so it is not, and won't be, reproachable in any way.
TL;DR? Too bad, you need all the fine detailing on this one. Do me (and yourself) a favour, arm yourself with patience, and read away. After all, reading IS fun!
Also, yes, I might get the banhammer. But that's life I guess, one must make oneself heard! (Even at risk of being shot by laser guided missiles)
