Just curious, how close of a handle does everyone try to keep on these things while online? I get almost obsessive-compulsive about my spelling and punctuation. However, I realize some prefer to keep things quick and dirty.

I try to keep things neat and tidy, but I don't make a huge fuss over it. As long as it isn't REALLY bad, I don't mind.

As long as it has decent spelling, a few mistyped keys are permissible. Syntax, however, must be impeccable. Apostrophes also must be respected.

I always try to type the best way I can. I find grammar and spelling to be very important. Who would you respect more? A person that takes the time to write their paragraph correctly, or someone slapping the keyboard like a retard on acid?

I believe typos are just part of the internet, people trying to get their opinion out there before anyone else.

I try to use correct grammar and spelling all the time, not just online, except when I'm making a point or using specific abbreviations.

I don't criticize people for not doing the same, though.

i will usually do everything except for capital letters. i will occasionally put those in for names, or to make things clear, but aside from that i leave them out.

aside from that, i use punctuation fairly well (i think), and always go through what i said with the spell checker.

I like to try and keep it as technically correct as possible. The main reason for that is because my spelling and grammar are the first (and most significant) indicators of my intelligence that people will see over the internet, and you know what they say about first impressions.

I always try to make sure I have good grammer while typing. Hell, my Youtube comments look like forum posts. I have started lightening up on myself. Usually I will Google words to make sure they are spelt right. (Or is it spelled? Google wasn't clear on that.)

I agree with this, fully. Occasional mistakes are acceptable, though most other stuff isn't.

There are some browsers (Firefox comes to mind offhand) that have built-in spellcheckers that work Microsoft Word-style, red lines and all. That would be faster than using Google to spell check.

I try but I'm far from perfect.

I'll never lose sleep over someone mixing up you're with your or someone missing the ' in I'm.

As long as I can tell what you're trying to say and you're not using "LOL" or "OMG!!11!" I'm fine with it.

I tend to use correct grammar as much as possible unless I am extremely pissed and I'm racing to make my point.

English was my worst subject, I was good at writting essays it was my spelling and sometimes sentence structure that let me down.
I don't look down on people who mix up 'you're and your' because everyone has their strengths, mine being science NOT english.
However I cannot stand poeple who rte liek diss.
They ruin the internet for everyone else -_-.

On another note:
I ignore typing mistakes in other peoples posts, we all make them!

I think spelling is very important. I want the reader to be able to know what I'm saying.

I absoloutley and without exceptions, hate it when people don't even try to use proper grammar and spelling. If it's relatively good I don't mind, it's just when you get posts completely devoid of capitals, punctuation, and proper spelling. That bothers me to no end.

To be honest, sometimes correct spelling and grammar is just as important as the content of a message. More people are likely to take the message to heart if it is spelled correctly, than if it is hastily done, and poorly grammaticized.
