There's so many things that were wrong with GT5 I'm not going to bother to list them. I loved GT3 but since then the series has just gone downhill, starting with the speed penalties in GT4, and continuing with what can only be considered minor graphic tweaking with zero in the way of bot AI from GT5, not to mention the toggleable racing path that's on by default, so that every race becomes a glorified driving exam. Sorry, I'm rambling. Think I will skip this one and see if I get the racing bug back when a PS4 port is released.

The only racing games I've ever enjoyed (aside from cart racers) are the Burnout series. GT has never interested me so I won't be getting it.

I'm a casual fan of street racing games like the NFS series, but I've always found Gran Turismo and other realistic racing games to be really, REALLY tedious.

I'll be getting it when it gets a price cut, I can appreciate the level of realism these games offer and I always end up clocking in around 20 to 30 hours on these games, but I'm not particularly good at the games so I never get really far.

I always turn off the guide-line ( because seriously, playing a game with that turned on is like riding a bike with training wheels attached to it ), drive in cockpit view ( it is a driving simulator after all ( although the lack of peripheral vision is a bit of a downer ) ) and never tinker with cars, so I might be making the game extra hard on myself but meh.

The microtransactions definitely turn me off, have to wait to see how much they affect the game before I make a purchase.
From what I got from articles, they allow you to buy in-game credits so that you don't have to grind for 2 weeks to buy that one car you want. Doesn't seem like they are locking you out of content, but they are giving you a way to fast-pass to the 'big' cars.

And to be honest, this is a kind of micro-transaction that I can get behind, they have taken the normal game and added a way to make it quicker if you give it a little money. It's not like most infernal mobile games that limit your time of play / actions you can do and make you wait for hours just to progress within the games.. god I hate mobile gaming.

I'll probably get it, eventually. In these times where good racing games are extremely rare (Haven't played a decent one since Ridge Racer 7) i can't ignore something like GT6. It looks like a great game and seems to rectify most of the problems with GT5.

I'm on the fence. I recently bought a PS3 as I fancied GTAV, but didn't fancy giving MS any more cash (self-repaired 360 #5 has gotten so hot that it warped the plastic!).

Even though I played the shit out of GT4, the last really decent GT was 3 (the Gillet Vertigo was an absolute joy around Tokyo R246!).

If the micro-transactions are merely to speed progress, then I don't care, I'll just race more. Other than that, I'll wait on user reviews and drop some hints on the run-up to Christmas!

I love these games but GT5 lost me with some of its weird under developed parts, Forza 3 was great and i haven't gotten too deep into 4 yet so i've got that, don't feel the need to get GT6, i like to party chat on 360.

they're obviously more niche than I thought.
Gran turismo niche? This is one of the most popular gaming series ever with a huge fanbase worldwide. Im not sure about yankistan where they like to drive round in a circles but in japan and europe these games are huge (hence the reason there are not many muscle cars and loads of european and japanese cars)

Im deffo buying this game. I love the realistic handling on Gran Turismo and the customisation options (not visual but performance)

Nope!
Grand Turismo is one of the ONLY games I've ever fallen asleep while playing. It's so incredibly boring and I've never understood peoples obsession with realism in games, they have to be realistic, or gritty and no cartoons allowed!

I like my games to be unrealistic, not like batshit crazy but instead of GT, I prefer Burnout or Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, F Zero is pretty dandy too.

Apparantly microtransactions are only to save time. To be honest i dont see the point in buying all the good cars when they point of the game is to slowly unlock them. These games have huge longevity and you might as well not buy it if your going to skip all that

Assuming you bought all your credits with real-world cash you would need to spend £120 to get the most expensive car

I love unrealistic games but i hate arcade racing games because the handling is too easy and floaty. Realism in racing is good because cars behave how they should (or as close as possible) in real-life. This is a pretty big deal if you're into cars and motor-racing. I have to get the right racing line and brake at the right moment to win the race rather than just holding the throttle and sliding the car round every corner

I'm not saying realistic is bad, but a lot of people whine to have games real as possible, it's kiiinda irritating when a game like TF2 is mocked for being cartoonish when it's charmingly violent and stylized.

I get what you're saying, it's good to have a racer doing it, but for me? Just bores me sadly.

No. I played GT2, enjoyed it to a degree. But since then, I never really felt a need to ever play a realistic driving game again. I don't really think I'm missing out based on what I've seen. TBH, I just want a new F-Zero game.

It has the Lunar Rover....

So as soon as I scrape enough cash together to buy a PS4. After the mandatory rig upgrade.... damn BF4....
But yeah, I would love to see some low grav fun on the moon, which I sorely hope is part of what they were teasing in that trailer...

brb, checking the moon's escape velocity and the top speed of the fastest car in the game...

Edit: Soooooo.... I'm gonna need to get good with C++ fast and somehow get my hands on a PS4 devkit. There are vital modifications that need to be made. Like modding a car to achieve a velocity of 2.38km/s....

But I guess even then it wouldn't model gravity properly and I guess it'd just be faster to go back to playing Kerbal...

I counter your argument with...

RULE OF COOL.
Sometimes I just wanna go fast and sideways. Can ya really blame me?

Though I do enjoy (semi)/realistic racing games a lot more since I learned how to Scandinavian flick and drift properly. Even if most of the time it's actually slowing me down, god damn does it look good when you get it right.

I agree entirely. Borderlands was one of my favourite games of the last few years, really loved the art style and the old school RPG elements

I just think that games need to give you a challenge to overcome and a set of tools to complete the challenge. Gran Turismo (assuming you like cars and motorracing) is the ideal challenge....to beat your opponents (or your own lap time) the game gives you loads of cars that you can tinker with (eg fit new components and set up every last detail from gear-ratios to camber angle of your tyre to ECU setting) you then use these cars to compete in races.

Im not keen on games like burnout where i just mash the throttle and take corners at 200mph whilst crashing head first into another drive without losing any momentum, wheres the challenge whats keeping me entertained when every race is as difficult as cutting butter with a hot knife. Games like that dont really give you an incentive. You cant buy new components for your cars so theres nothing to really improve on except unlocking the next car.

Dont get me wrong i can see the appeal. I love NFS underground and midnight club series because theres loads of customisation and that gives you a bit of incentive to carry on even if you can have a head on collision with traffic on the last lap and still go on to win it.
