From the 1 hour footage of TOR I watched, it looked terrible. I won't however completely dismiss it because the guy playing was a clicker, it was early game and MMO's for the most part are boring as hell to watch, but fun to play. I still have my doubts about Guild Wars 2, the multiplayer shown recently didn't particularly impress me and whilst their ideas sound good, I'm doubtful they'll be represented just as well in the game. I also imagine the large scale events are laggy as hell like they were in Aion.

I'm looking forward to trying out TOR and GW2, and if they're good I'll look forward to buying them. Other than that, I'm looking forward to playing TERA a lot more.

I want TOR, but I cannot afford to pay the monthly subscription for as long as I would like to play the game. Paying once and then never paying again makes much more sense financially than paying once, and then paying again every month. Therefore, I will have to go with GW2.

They both look great. TOR looks to deliver the in-depth story vitalization that all MMO's have lacked, which has often depleted my interest in them over time.

Guild Wars 2 has extreme gameplay advances in MMO's and looks really amazing, same with the PVP. Guild Wars 2 is amazing to watch, and the lack of Subscription might sell me on it.

I don't know what I'll get. I'll wait for reviews, I suppose.

Despite my love for KotOR and Bioware in general, I will get Guild Wars 2.
I have played GW for several years and it has never really let me down and Guild Wars 2 just looks more epic in every way.
Though I will keep my eye on TOR to see how it might develop, since I would really love to play a Trooper seeing as I love the Republic Commando books and this might be the closest I get to playing one outside of the Republic Commando game.

Will probably play both, seeing as GW2 doesn't have subscription and all, although the art style of the game and overall design doesn't interest me one bit, sadly. It just seems.. too much like your standard korean looking mmo.

Not into MMO's anymore but if I ever do get back GW2 would be my prime choice, altho it looks like all the charm of the first one might be gone.

I personally don't enjoy MMOs but both of these games have promised to deliver in different areas that I think need improvement in MMOs. GW2 in combat and TOR in story. I'll have to see how they do when they come out but provided that they are both equally good in thier own areas I will probably go with TOR because I really like KOTOR and I am a bit of a star wars fanboy.
Actually its sounding like guild wars 2 will have a deeper story then starwars, but then again starwars is starwars, if your not sick of it since the new movies then you will probably enjoy its story more.

I've never played an MMO well I played WoW's free trial but it didn't hook me enough to spend monthly fees. But Guild Wars 2 is looking like I may get it, plus no fees.

Already pre ordered ToR but i'll play GW2 at some point.

It's not one i've been waiting for so i'll probably get it when the price drops same as I did with GW1.

Guild Wars 2, and I'm willing to pay 60 euros for it if they charge that much.

I've seen the gameplay demos of Guild Wars 2, and I have to admit it: It looks god awful. Looks exactly like Guild Wars 1 to me. I'm sorry, but what is really there beyond new classes and the dynamic event system? Sure it looks great in the demo but frankly I'm going to wait to see it in action in the real game before I'm willing to praise it. And the conversation system, which many people are hyping to be superior to TOR's to me, is frankly the most pathetic looking thing I've ever seen. It looks like an element lifted out of a low-budget Korean MMO. Two people on the opposite sides of a screen staring at each other and robotically mouthing words.

And as someone who is perfectly fine with TOR's art style, and has been an avid enough WoW player to appreciate the differences (few they may be) in gameplay, I'll be sticking to the developer that has consistently given me my money's worth in the past: BioWare.

These two games have created a lot of buzz, are supposedly both going to revolutionize MMO's, and may be released more or less at the same time. So, who here has been caught up by the glimpses the devs have shown so far and has already made their purchase decision? Which will you (not) get?

Myself, I enjoyed the first Guild Wars, and I'm excited about the new dynamic event structure. I think it's a good idea, these type of large open missions that you just walk into were the better parts of MMO's like Warhammer and Rifts, but they were hampered by the fact that you did those occasionally between the big piles of regular kill and fetch quests. The combat system sounds like a lot of fun too, although I do worry if it will work well with the no-party structure. (There's only a few non-stackable boons you can give to allies, and you have no way of knowing if they already give that boon to themselves as far as I can tell. The GW1 enchantment system might have worked better.) But I'm hyped up enough that I will at least try it once it comes out.

The Old Republic on the other hand... nah. I'm not that big a Bioware or Star Wars fan. A bigger story empathis might be fun but from what I heard the gameplay is a bit too average.
Guild Wars 1 sucked. I played it for like a week and didn't like one single thing about it. I'm getting TOR.

i choose TOR because im sure that it can be good
And about the (activatesflame shield)art style it is so people who game on consoles but have a medium grade pc like me can play it
So dont be a selfish and say that is a bad thing
And the artstyle is made to age well look at world of warcraft
it aged well and so will this one

TOR. I don't like PvP so I hate Guild Wars. BW and SW fan so TOR is obvious, and I loved raiding in WoW.

There are two very important videos both sides of this argument need to see. Take it away, Totalbiscuit:

I'm glad Bioware has decided to put some focus on story in an MMO...but TOR just doesn't look fun. While Guild Wars 2 does, AND there's no subscription based fee.

Contrary to what I just said, you two need to see these: (thanks again, Totalbiscuit!)Don't judge a game with such pitiful misinformation.
