WARNING: This has been edited and lengthened more then my original review

(This is more of a rant then a review)
I don't understand why its getting such great reviews. I thought the game was average at best. the base building lacked freedom. The RTS part of the game took no strategy other then make a bigger army then the other team and flood them into the enemy base. You get money so fast in the game all your units are fully upgraded within 7 minutes. This game is coming from the people that made all of the age of empire games and I think they could have done so much better if they had put alot more polish and detail. Im going to cut this short. This is and RTS game for newbies of the RTS franchise.

graphics: 7/10
audio: 8/10
Gameplay: 4/10
Presentation:6/10

Its more of a rant than a review actually.

You still have a long way to you become a reviewing padawan.

Graphics are at least a 9. You're dealing with an RTS here and then you have to consider truly breathtaking cutscenes.

Audio is a 10. The voice acting is crazy good and the sound effects are spectacularly Halo-like. Don't forget, there's also a great score to boot. I can't name a negative.

Gameplay is definitely the worst prop where I'd give it a 7. It's not perfectly tight, but it works really well. It's definitely an achievement for console RTS games.

Presentation is Halo War's strength. They present what they have very well: 10. The cutscenes and then the Halo feel really adds to it.

In conclusion, the only thing you can dock it with is a reviewer's tilt. You could argue that certain things (like a Covenant campaign) are missing and then it could be a 7/10 game, but in the end, you can't ignore everything Halo Wars did right.

I found it much better. The gameplay is excellent, each side different enough to enjoy, and the story great.

Also as a review this is very basic. You could add more points to show a greater detail and a more thorough examination of your ideas. Also you have too many negative undertones you may want to lighten the mood.
Changed into constructive critisism.

Well that is what you do about a game you don't like, whine about it. You got me when you say I lack info about it. I just got board of the game after around 20 min. so I was lacking info. I wasn't going to play a game I didn't like all the way through. A game is made for entertainment, not if you can finish or not.

Thanks for the advice/idea!
No problem personally I found your original critism to be very spread, try to narrow your focus a bit more and move towards a more positive..... I am sorry I really should be asleep. I'm going now.

I just didn't like the game. I found it hard to keep playing when in the back of my mind I kept thinking I could be playing company of heroes right now or Psychonauts. Also I rented Halo wars I didn't buy it.

It's a console RTS. RTS games are meant to be played with a keyboard.

I would say DoW2 is most likely a better buy than Halo Wars.

Your review needs more...review.

It's far too short. I don't mind conscise, but you literally gave no information at all.
I probably wouldn't like it because I don't buy into the Halo hype, but I can't make an informed piratin--BUYING...decision based on this review.
Well it's an Xbox title so you can't pirate buy it... I think?
Oh you can pirate buy a Xbox title..you just need to know how. ^^

And cause we talking about buying you just need to go to your local retailer. Nothing involving shaddy people with even more shaddy hardware modifications.

Would it be wrong to ask you more?
Say were you live I might point out the closest store so you can pirate buy games. I mean is that what you want right? And nothing do with those crazy people that alter console hardware?

Ok, the graphics deserve around an 8, but the cutscenes were something awesome giving it a 8 and a 1/2 at least. Audio was well done deserving an 8 at least. Gameplay was surprisingly good for a console RTS, and all you really needed to do was get used to it and you'd forget that you were plaing it on a console, so that deserved an 8. It was presented very well, deserving around a 9, though it had a short story, there was an adequate amount of characters, and it felt all very nicely put together, but was missing a campain for the Covenant.

You don't explain much about the game except the parts you hated.

Thanks for sharing your rant with us. Next!

I still get riled that Bungie/MS forced a Cease and Desist [http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/13/ms-shuts-down-halogen-mod-why-now/] on the Halogen Mod [http://halogen.slipstreamproductions.net/] for C&C Generals.

I do agree with your points but, I dunno... not quite a review, more like when a person I know says "don't get the game" and I'm all like "why not?" and all that comes back from them is just "It's not good"

I don't take that as a review, more like advice.

But it's not bad advice.

Wow if that's the lengthened version I dread to think what the original was like. That's far too short. I want to know about the game not just a bunch of numbers.

I played Halo Wars for a week and got bored. Would have been less if I didn't love rolling ever enemy down with Grizzly tanks. The cinematic graphics are excelent except in 1 part where I think there's 2 pelicans with warthogs underneath that look like they should be in a cartoon. The gameplay graphics are good and bad. The scenery and bases and most units look great but the infantry sometimes looked a little unloved and finished with a "that'll do thier only marines kind of way".

Unit population limit is perfect for the level size and how the games built but many fans were expecting to be able to roll out more than a max of 13 scorpions at a time (16 with special foreruner structures).

Unit selection is again good for the amount of units and style of the game. I missed good old Ctrl+# but never really found a use for more than "Select All" - "Move/Attack".

It's presented really well. It feels Halo. Right down to plasma grenades sticking to whatever thier thrown at or sitting fizzing on the ground, even sticking to marines faces on the rare chance.

It's a good game just needs somethings a PC release could bring to it. Like mods and bigger new maps. I would love to see this released on PC and let some modders have a go at some nice new maps and increasing the unit population.

It's a must for Halo fans who like RTS games but if your more into the FPS games this wont convert you or anyone into anything what so ever.

As a note this game is nothing compaired to PC RTS games. But compaired to console RTS games (and there are some) it's the best. I have Red Alert somewhere for PS1 which was just horrorible to play. This is also probably my longest post ever.

Strategy? are you serious? your arguments are that this Halo game has strategy? What a load of BULLSHIT!!! have you also played the shooters? because its the same story. the team with more peeps running around is almost always going to win, and lets face it, I've played much better RTS games than this.

I've never been overly fond of the Halo games. I've played them all but they just never seemed as good as everyone else was saying.

I'm actually playing it right now, I like some parts and the others are annoying me.
