It appears the folks at Gearbox Software might be pretty damn busy over the next few years. According to the October issue of Official Xbox Magazine, the Brothers in Arms developer has been drafted to develop Halo 4 as a launch title for the next Xbox hardware. Yes, you can now mark this dark date as the day when we already began hearing rumors about the next generation of consoles.

FYI: Gearbox were also the developer who created Halo for the PC.

A little hint given to me by someone was: A offical from xbox told mtv that bungie are working on another instalment of the halo series and he said its not halo wars or a game based on the halo film its another game and would not go into detail because its for bungie to announce i wonder what it is XD

Most of the rumors that I have heard are that they are going to make another Halo game, it just isn't going to involve Master Chief. Either you are going to play as a generic Spartan or as a Marine, the latter is more likely. I wonder how a halo game would turn out where you played as the marine. It might turn the game more like Call of Duty, taking away the shields and the amount of punishment you can take.

It's gonna happen, but without Bungie it will definitely be the absolute crappiest piece of terrible ever to enter a console, i mean Microsoft making a halo game just sounds bad, everything good about those games came from Bungie, without a good game company you get...SHADOWRUN!

They'll release halo 4. Bungee have no imagination, they just remake the same game over and over again with limited differences, see marathon-halo also I'm quite sure Microsoft own bungee thus they'll try squeeze every last drop of money out of anyone

I don't think there will be a Halo 4. It will be something like Halo:Revenge of the Sith or Halo 4:First Blood.

Not Bungie? O well, now where do I sign up to pre-order a Xbox 3.

No imagination? See Gnop!-Halo.

I don't know about Bungee but Bungie is an independent company.[/quote]

If Bungie gave up halo they would financially die. Bungie is going to squueze every economic drop of gold out of halo. I would be surprised if they didn't release a new halo.

*cough cough*

Also, Bungie has made essentially the same game 7 times over now. Space marines, powered armour, big alien war, plasma weapons. Heck, name 1 game in which going back over the levels in reverse was a good idea? I guess I do have this hatred for halo though so my opinion is pretty invalid. Short answer is Bungie need halo, its like if VALVe gave up halflife.

Hmm, thanks for that. I didn't know they split.

Came after that and just kept remaking the same game 6 times.

Bungie made it. Unless you count the developer that ported it to the Mac.

From what I've gathered, if we were to play as a Marine, I'd say it'd become something more like a tactical shooter... like Brothers in Arms.

Point taken, but Gearbox are hardly a crappy developer. They've developed Brothers In Arms, are working on several other new FPS properties and developed the fantastic Opposing Force expansion for Half-Life. As far as I'm aware they've not made a bad game yet.

And who knows, maybe they might actually bring something new to Halo instead of just recycling the same game three times in a row?
