Right now I'm practicing handstand because it's a skill that I've always wanted to have. So I was wondering just how common this skill is. Not really much to say here, I'm mostly concerned with the poll. Thanks.

I can do them for an average of 6 seconds, but today I found my balance point so I should be able to double that quite soon.

for clarification purposes a handstand is held for about 15 seconds at least.

EDIT: I've been having trouble with my back because of this, has anyone else experienced this and should I be worried?

I used to be able, but it's been quite a time. It was during those few months I could do splits without pain ;d

I thought it would be cool to be able to do push ups without my feet, so I tried learning handstands to make that possible. I'm still practising though, I have the balance of erm.. eh well.. hmm something that isn't very balanced.

Im sick of these pointless polls. I mean come ON, Handstands? christ this is a community for people who like to discuss games and gaming related culture. Not feckin handstands. If you want to discuss acrobatic's, why not visit one of the hundreds of gymnastic's boards? why here?

because I want to know how common this skill is among people like me, polling gymnasts would be pointless because pretty much all gymnasts can.

This is the off topic discussion area. If you want to discuss games, go to another section. This area is for anyone to drag up any random topic they feel like talking about.

What constitutes a hand stand?

How long do you need to balance on your hands for it to count, and do your arms and/or legs need to be straight?

I used to be able to kind of do a handstand when I was little... I'm at least two feet taller now. I doubt I could do one, but it would be cool if I could. Balance isn't my problem, it's the upper-body strength I don't have. XD

I can only do it for like 3-4 seconds. After that I usually fall into something and hurt myself :D

I can do it for a second or two. I used to be really good at them and was even able to walk on my hands, but that completely disappeared after many growth spurts.

Unless I'm confused, this is the OFF-TOPIC board. I don't see a problem here.

I can't, but my brother used to be able to do one on a skateboard while moving when he was 9-ish. It was pretty cool.

Still practising. I can stand on my habds for somewhere around 1-2 seconds, but hopefully I'll reach 5 seconds quickly. I have an obsesion of being on the same level with people that sometimes ends badly in my self-esteem department. :(

Depends how bothered I am. I can also cartwheel and do decent gym type stuff. It's quite astonishing as you wouldn't guess I could.

(steps away from desk and throws hands to the ground and feet in the air)

(Eats crap cause I weigh too much now)

Nope, not anymore, was worth a shot tho

I can't, but it's largely because I can't lift my own body weight in that way (I can't do a push-up, either) and I'd be risking serious injury if I tried. If I lost about two hundred pounds I could probably do it after about half an hour of practice.

Sort of.
However, not 15 seconds.
More like 3 or 4 seconds. Any more than that and I'll fall on my head and hurt myself.
