There are always people saying Happy Easter and Merry Christmas, but how many people on the street would wish a Happy Passover? I mean 'tis a tough holiday to get through no bread products for 8 days.

I forgot all about Passover.
Probably because it doesn't affect my life in the slightest. If I see Elephant_Guts around here, I'll wish him one.
Me too.

Wait, Elephant_Guts is Jewish? First I heard of it, although I knew Jumplion is Jewish.

Yes, I once attended one of the Passover ceremonies.

...After which I don't think I'm allowed back. :(

I know no Jews.

Which is strange, considering there are so many of them in Poland.

He is?

Can you add an "I am a Jew" option? That's the only way I can vote.
You are?
Well, I've heard Jumplion preface some sentences with "My Rabbi said..." So I'm assuming he is. And yes, I am. Or at least, my family is, I'm more of a deist.

Just cause you are Jewish doesn't mean you can't wish your fellow Jew Happy Passover.

Passover is remembering the exodus out of Egypt, for the Jews. The last supper was a passover dinner.

Sure it does, that's actually not the appropriate greating. The greating is Hag Samach, Happy Passover is just what non Jewish people say to be polite to us since most of them don't know the proper greating.
Well if you want to be really technical, Chag Sameach is just a general Happy Holiday. You should be saying, Pesach Sameach. (Sorry, I suck at transliterations if only I had someway of inputting Hebrew characters)

If you wanted to be specific, you would probably have to name "chag hamatos hazeh" since that is the proper name of the festival anyway. But then every Jewish holyday has 3-5 names so that's probably why the use of the general is the norm.
Very good point. But what is the fun of just saying a general greeting. Wishing someone a greeting like "chag hamatos hazeh" is like testing the depth of their knowledge. You can see whether they have any knowledge of Hebrew or the older traditions.

I live in a small backwards prodomination Catholic town, religious diversity would have most people here call me a freak because they don't have a bollocks what that even means.

Note:I am think it would seem a little...strange,to go and find out whom in the town is Jewish just so I could wish them a happy passover.

Happy passover to everyone anyway,Jewish or not.

We had a Christian Passover, but in full traditional Jewish style. Matzos are quite tasty...
Not when 'tis the only thing you can eat for 8 days.
