I really think this sort of thing could do a world of good for the game, and would really enhance the experience. As soon as the Construction Set gets released, I want to put together some kind of Hardcore/Survival mod for the game.

So far, I have a lot of general ideas; drinking and eating would be necessary, as would sleep, and taking shelter from serious weather. I might model food rot, depending on how complicated that would be. I'd like to disable fast-travel, since in-game wagons already allow fast travel for a fee. I might do some expanded wound, and fatigue modelling as well. Low stamina would cause you to occasionally stumble when running (with a greater chance when running backward or over rough terrain), and severe damage, exhaustion, or over-encumbrance could cause you to collapse. I think diseases would be a bit more serious if it could progress, and potentially kill you, too. Placeable bedrolls/tents, campfires that consume firewood (and ward off the cold), and portable cookpots would help players who would rather avoid towns. I might have to slow down the game clock a bit too, to make days stretch out a bit more... as it is, the days seem to go by too quickly.

I've seen a lot of suggestions in this thread, but what sort of things would you like to see in a Hardcore/Survival mod, and what don't you want to see? I'm definitely going to throw this mod together, and the more ideas and opinions I have, the better I'm able to plan and design it.
