Which format will you view the conclusion to the saga. I have to admit that despite being an 18 year old male I am quite fond of the Potter films (yeah call me gay all you want) and have been anticipating the conclusion but I think I will watch it in 2D rather than the crummy post-production tacked on 3D. What about the rest of you?

I like the latter movies, wasn't much of a fan of the earlier ones even at a younger age. And the new one, according to the book, should spend the last hour or more as one epic fight scene.

But no, no 3D. Aside from Avatar, I have yet to see something made better by 3D. And avatar was pretty shithouse to begin with.

I thought the Jackass movie was enhanced by use of 3D technology.

2D. I saw one movie in 3D (Avatar), and it was just annoying. Wearing a second pair of glasses over my regular ones means having to adjust them every minute. And it's headache-inducing. And the ticket costs more money. And it's not even that impressive.
3D should just fuck off and die. And then die again.

Edit: Nobody voted 3D yet. This makes me happy.

Why on earth would we call you gay? First of all, there's nothing particularly homosexual about Harry Potter. Second, if you're 18, you're actually a bit young for the series, not old. The people who grew up with the books are in their early 20s at this point.

OT: I hadn't really thought about it, but if you're right that the 3D was done in post production, then I'll save the money and watch it the way it was filmed. I like 3D, but only when it's done right.

2D. The movies are shot very dark, so 3D would make them too muddy.

You know the books started coming out in the 90's right? A lot of the fans have been with the series since the beginning, and have essentially grown up with them. Making many of them in their 20's.

I'll probably watch it in 3D. I've seen all of the Potter movies since the third in theaters with my father. He likes 3-D, and I doubt the post production 3-D will be bad. They canceled the first installments 3-D because they couldn't get it up to scratch in time. Plus I want to see it in IMAX.

I'll see it in 2D if I can. I like 3D, but after seeing Tron Legacy I'm worried about seeing any other dark movies in 3D, and the Harry Potter movies tend to have a pretty gloomy colour palette.

Is it real 3D or crappy post-converted 3D?

Either way I prefer the "no-glasses" option.

2D. The only 'experience' 3D movies have ever given me is motion sickness, and I'm not one to take Dramamine before going to a movie theater.

2D. I hate 3D movies, they give me a headache. I do love how apparently the next great leap forward for entertainment is one that gives forty percent of the population a headache though.

Also, shameless plug time! I'm doing a series of video reviews covering all the previous movies, the first of which should be up soon. Check out the reviews section and see me try and fail to capture that Nostalgia Critic Spirit!

I'm a pretty big fan, so I'll go see it in a couple of weeks (screw the opening weekend, I made that mistake with Avatar, I had neck cramp for a week because of the rubbish seats I got and an annoying kid who bought the entire candy counter sitting next to me).

I'll be going 2D, seeing as I am poor right now and the movie wasn't envisioned with 3D in mind, so it won't really add much, if anything to the movie. Again, a mistake I made with Alice in Wonderland. I guess the rubbishness of the movie accentuated the uselessness of the extra dimension.

On an unrelated note, I went to see the first HP on my ninth birthday, 'scuse me while I nostalgia...

They announced the first movie coming out shortly after I turned eleven, which was probably the best thing that could happen to an eleven-year-old.

I take it you read the book before hand? I did and it was my first book > film adaptation.

Still waiting for my letter to Hogwarts though.

Absolutely. I'd read the four books that had come out at that point in the timespan of about a week. I've been sorely disappointed in all the movies in comparison (though none so much as Prisoner of Azkaban), but I've stuck through it and seen the movies on opening day since the beginning. Mostly, I'm waiting for one to prove me wrong about the movies having no chance at being anywhere near as good as the books. They have one more opportunity to do this.
