Oh and the poll is broken and I can't fix it. ><
Yeah, my muggle life isn't bland.

If your muggle life is bland then you need to stop losing yourself in books and start living your life rather than imagining others.

An unpopular view on these forums, I'm sure, but it's true.
...I think he was probably joking, mate. And after all, to us muggles, any life as a wizard would make our lives seem bland.

I read the last page of the last book in Waitrose. Seemed a bit lack luster as an ending, and I haven't even read the others.

I was going to add "They are freaks, I'm happy being a normal person" and "When do I get my wand?" (and even maybe "My family is pureblood and I'm against my will on this Muggle-computer") but I hit Enter by mistake and it sent the poll+thread. I tried to fix it but it wouldn't change. :(

And no, my life isn't bland (though it could be better ^^'). You don't seem to have any idea where you are right now. This is the Internet and "imagining other lives" is quite normal. Even in the reaaaaal world.

I'll have a look in Dresden Files as soon as I have the money though.

Who's the second guy?
That's George R.R. Martin, author of the series A Song of Ice and Fire (A Dance with Dragons is the latest installment). He's notorious for killing off major characters in his books.

Honestly I was way over the HP series before the seventh book even came out. I mean they're good children's books, but by the time they were winding down I was getting out of puberty and was looking for more substance in a book. I thought the names Harry gave to his kids were kind of hokey...

I refuse to believe Dumbledores gay, sorry not in the main books not canon.
As far as Im concerned he and McGonagall were banging every other week.
So your ok with non canon hetrosexual relationships but not that he was gay? You disgusting homophobe. Just shut the fuck up, JK says he was gay, that means he was gay. At any rate McGonagall was married before she was at Hogwarts, she wouldn't be having sex with Dumbledore.
Sorry not in the main book doesnt count. Dont care about her catering to fans and there are plenty of others like me who thought JK was phoning it in near the end with this all of a sudden Dumby is gay thing and others who thought there was something between Dumby and her by their interactions and respect for each other.
And where does it say anything about mcgonagall and marriage?
It doesn't matter if it was in the books or not, it came from the creator of the canon, who is the only person who can edit, create and delete said canon. Therefore, it becomes canon. You can call it cheesy, but you can't deny its validity.
Hehe, medichlorians, Greedo shot first, Nooooooooooo! Gotta love canon.

No its not, its exactly what the fans want. You haven't realized it yet, Dumbledore didn't come into the book with a full back story. Fans have bits and pieces of it, but as it stands, Dumbledore is still a relatively mysterious character, despite being a major character for 7 books. Heck, we didn't even know he had a brother until the 7th book. Major fans have always wanted to know more about the headmaster of Hogwarts and Rowling is giving them that.
That's not really a good point at all. People want a fully developed fitting background to the character. Remember how well Metroid Other M handled this?

Imagine they decide to add a more proper background to Mario.

Say he's now a preverse, rapist who hypnotised Peach. Now Bowser's actually a hero, but we actually see the world from Peach's dellusion. Bowser's actually Link. But to her, he's a dragon/turtle thing to her. When he shoots fire balls, those are the lasers from Link's sword.

When you kill a Goomba, you're actually stomping on cats, wich Mario is highly alergic to.

Sounds like great background story, right? Hell, all we need to do is get Shigeru(wich I know he wouldn't because he's not evil) say this is true and there you go, official canon no matter how stupid or out of place it is.

We as fans want to know more about the characters, but not something you half ass throw out that doesn't have any ground. I really don't care that Dumbledore's gay, but honestly, the fact felt really out of place. "Guess what everyone, Harry's left hand gets cold in Winter more so then his right hand"

Not to mention, I gotta agree, if it's not in the book/movie/game I don't care.

According to official manga's, Link has not only been friends with Zelda since they were kids, but he also has an apple orchard where he spent the rest of his life with Zelda there and his parents died in the dark world Ganondorf was banished to.

Oh, and there's a girl who has a crush on Link and follows him around but it never goes anywhere.

The worst part of accepting what the 'creator' says is canon after the official story is done and out, is they could come out and say that Dumbledore was actually Sousuke Aizen and you'd have to accept that as canon.

George Lucas is a good example of why fans don't want the creator to give half-assed back stories.

Apparently Darth Vader was a kid who became a psychopath as a teenager and angsted a lot.

I'm 23 with a life I'm happy with but you know what? Yes. I would love to go back 12 to 13 years and get that letter of acceptance to Hogwarts or whatever its equivalent would be in the U.S. If I were to go to Hogwarts, I would have missed Harry and the gang but I would have been able to meet Hagrid so there's that. Also, I would have attended in the Post Snape years under a new headmaster. So no Dumbledore but also no Snape...what the hell, I'd still do it!
