Lately (since last Steam sales) I've been installing a lot of new games, and I must say I haven't had that many issues, be they old or new games. Mass Effect 2 still refusing to work properly is the only major one and I can play that on my PS3 as well.

It's really very much a YMMV thing, with a lot depending on your exact system specs, and obviously inherently a PC game problem. When you have to cater to a wide range of systems, things get complicated, and I can hardly blame developers for all of it. Sure, there are some shitty ports out there and a lot of games without proper support, but generally I haven't seen many problems. Is the past I sometimes had to fight for days to get a game working (my last big headache was Freelancer, IIRC), but these days not so much.

Still, it's one of the reasons why I still primarily consider myself a console gamer. It's (mostly) just that much easier.
