Recently my friend mentioned to me that the word c*nt isnt what it used to be, we started to ponder if the english language needed a worse swear that could make people shudder and cringe like c*nt used to do. My question is, do you think its lost its edge?

Shudder and cringe?
Since when has **** done that to anyone?
Since when has ANY swear word done that to anyone?

I didn't really think it had an edge to begin with.

It was never really as widely-used as "Fuck," which, as kids, was pretty much the end all be all of swear words.
And even that has lost it's edge with age.

swear words in general have gotten stale. 12-year-olds use them for every other word it's not edgy, it's just anoying

Its the last word you want to say anywhere near a female.
They really do dislike it and I don't blame them at all.

Well, try it out. Walk into a busy shopping centre and yell it out at the top of your lungs. See what happens.

I use it when I'm with certain people and most of the time I use it to make fun of the people who use it a lot.

People who get offended by any swear are just overly sensitive. I don't make a habit of swearing, but I don't care if someone else does. However I do admit that excessive swearing is annoying, and it makes you look like a complete ass.

as someone else said if you say it to enough females you will quickly realize that its still a touchy word to some people.

A word is a word. I really don't think it's any worse than "fuck", but society is messed up in that way.

It's been overused, I think. We need a new top-dog curse word. Unfortunately, I don't know what it should be.

Its still effective if you use it literally. Like all of these words though, it wears off fairly quickly.

Yahtzee sort of took the edge off it for me. He uses about once a review. Best use was in his rhyming review of Wolfenstein. Favorite review of all time!

None of them really work. Once I truly hate someone, I bite my thumb at them.
(that's an expression, look it up.)

People I hang out with never used to like it, so naturally I would say it a lot. Now they don't mind it so much. I never saw the problem with it to begin with.
At least it's better it's better than calling someone an "axe wound". God, I really hate that term.

Swears have no meaning to me anymore, if someone drops the f-bomb, it's more annoying than anything. It doesn't even have emphasis anymore.

Nowadays, it's pretty much like the word inconceivable in the Princess Bride. They keep saying that word. I don't think it means what they think it means, judging by how much it's just thrown around. Trying to list examples from a five minute period would take hours.

You say what now?

Why would WOMEN, of all people, hate the word ****? It's a synonym for vagina is it not? Surely men would feel more intimidated by it? A fair amount don't take kindly to being referred to as a pussy, so **** must be worse? Right?
