IW used to make fantastic games. I call CoD 1 as exhibit A. That was a great game. CoD 4 was also fantastic but not as good as the first CoD. I enjoy MW2 alot, but again, not as much as it's predecessors. Most of Infinity Ward has left the company and joined Respawn entertainment due to the recent lawsuit. The fromer IW employees include the lead model designer, the lead programmer, the lead project manager, and like 40 other people. So I think that the Respawn games will be unchanged. Do you think that the trend will continue, and the quality of games will go down the harder they try to make the games greater?

Infinity Wards lost it's whole backbone.
It's like a band that only has the bassist left, gets a whole load of repelacements and hopes no one will notice.
Sad fact is... no one will care except those of us in the know.

Maybe this means the final nail in the coffin for the CoD franchise as a whole then, since Treyarch sucks.

IW was pressured by Activision, which led to their downfall. Activision was trying to force them to make a MW3, they didn't pay the developer the money they earned from MW2, and they fired the two lead guys. Activision also had some influence over how MW2 was made, and look at what happened there. IW made quality games up until MW2 which was a bit worse than their other ones. Now there aren't enough people there to continue the same success they once had. Yes, they've lost their touch.

Lost their touch?

Dude, only like 4 people work at IW now. They lost most of their body.

Treyarch is by no means original, but their games are a bit more polished and balanced. I don't think they could do well without having IW to feed them ideas.

OT: Judging by the post release failure of Modern Warfare 2 and the collapse of IW, I'd say they've lost quite a bit more than just their touch. More like everything .

CoD 1 and 2 was great, the 4th was good too, but I was never looking forward to that, thinking "A CoD set in our time? Lame"

Then MW2 came out and I now think Infinity Ward turned into Insanity Ward
(That said, I'm sure the Single Player is entertaining enough, the Multi Player is obviously the part I'm pissed at, and got Battlefield: Bad Company 2 just to spite it)

They're not THAT bad, I enjoyed WaW much more than I enjoyed MW2... and this whole vietnam war thing with black ops looks pretty sweet to me, at least they have vehicles :p

OT: What kind of question is that? They lost the talented portion of their studio, they dont even have a touch anymore... Respawn could possibly do something awesome though, as they have been talking about wanting to do something sci-fi, and I feel like they have a chance to make a good version of halo *Flame shield up* o_O

Well considering you can fit the staff into a single people carrier, yeah. They have. And that's why we want EA to do something good with Respawn. Failing that, Ubisoft. Failing that, fuck it, they're screwed.

Calumon: I want to Hug Price's moustache.

I agree, the average gamer has no idea about these things so I assume if the COD franchise was to burn, it would take along time for it to happen.

While infinity ward has lost it's 'touch' we really can't tell if thats good or bad until their next game comes out, and the last game the full team made, MW2 wasn't good in my books.

Though for me I couldn't care less if infinity ward does well, I don't buy activision games anymore :)

You should have just come out with it and used the guns n roses comparison.
I was scratching my head trying to think of a once decent band, thank you! :)
